You need to update this map with the rest of North America in the “A hopeless situation, just pray” or the “Nobody wants to be sad all day” categories.

An accurate map would include countries like Japan (e.g. 2011 earthquake) and South Korea (e.g. 2022 crowd crush) in the “top coverage” category, but that doesn’t fit with the narrative.

Yeah unironically a western-centric take by OP.

Remember: the United States and your precious media is on the same periphery in non-english speaking countries as they are to us.

The US influence on other places is outsized, sure, but only when compared to other cultures influence on us, not compared to local culture.

This would be better with a more accurate projection, like Dymaxion. That black area is so much bigger than it looks here.

That’s funny. As someone from South of the US, I don’t remember ever reading USian news articles and thinking, jee, this made my day!

Even if something tragic happens in America, it better only happen to good looking people because they still won’t give a shit about the rest of us.

    The world is fucked.

And I have yet to see how lit up monuments have any kind of impact at all for changing anything to the better.

I’d argue that ot does the opposite like: “oh look, they did something.” claps hands together. “good, then that’s taken care of by someone else.”

OP has never heard of Apartheid and how it impacted US Politics.
