Is there a way to block meta in lemmy? Im in the lemmy.world instance, or is it up to the developers and maintainers of each lemmy instance?

I didn’t even sign up, I just wanted to see what it was all about, whining about politics and general madness, just like twitter, not for me, so I didn’t end up signing

The last thing we need is meta clawing their way around the fediverse, id rather have them stick to their own bullshit

Mastodon seems to become yet another rage cage like twitter, first thing I saw when I opened it yesterday was people bitching about politics, that’s a BIG nope for me

Same thing happened with google and xmpp as another user linked to, this is why i dont want facebook involvment, we cannot allow them to interact with lemmy or mastodon, their scummy tactics will force instaces to interact with them, and then meta will try to shut them down

That is also why I do not want meta on any fediverse instance, I hope that as a user I will be able to block meta’s instance, and wont have to rely on my instance (lemmy.world) to do it

Meta not trying something is extremley unlikely, they live to monotize everything they touch, which I bet will include the fediverse.

Infinity for reddit user here, as much as I love the app, and the work the developer has done on it, and even though the app will continue on a subscription based model, I have had it with reddit, full fediverse citizen from now on

I also really like the proton VPN apps, on other platform though, I have a laptop with linux mint on it, and I just use the browser addons because the desktop app itself deploys a kill switch and doesnt let me use the internet at all until I kill it in the terminal
