this year was a hellride. I spent too much time indoors and am no longer in good shape. I’m glad it’s over. next year I’ll continue focusing on education (starting my journey in cybersecurity). I hope to move further from surviving into thriving. I’m tired of being poor and alone.

You got this! Cybersecurity is a great field, just make sure to go on walks between studying!

I’m on vacation, and I tried to go see some landmarks, but they were all closed. I should have presumed.

I stayed up later than usual last night, therefore ensuring that I’m less productive today AND killing any chances I had of seeing midnight.

Joining new social media platforms. What a colossal mistake that was. The most relentless self-promotion, with-us-or-against-us mentality, quibbling over absolute nonsense, and the most banal overshares imaginable.

One of my 2024 goals is to try to return to “social” platforms and mediums that feel more oldschool and meaningful. IRC, bulletin boards, interest forums, stuff like that.

I too am so burnt out on the degenerated modern concept of social media.

Oh wow, I get that, but as a hiring manager I’ll tell you I’d just chuckle if I saw it at all. If the whole application was a mess then yeah, I’d draw conclusions, but one off something like that? I’ve done it myself plenty of times 🤣

Not a chance they look at the date! When “reading” (ok, skimming) cover letters, I start at like the 2nd line.

The first line is always “I’m excited to have the opportunity to…” And the real meat starts at the 2nd line when you start talking about what you’re good at.

Don’t sweat it, best of luck!

Got a full time county job salaried at 17 dollars an hour rate with 401k benefits. But couldn’t handle the full time hours, 2 hour commute, and toxic coworkers. Lasted 4 months at what is considered a dream job in my area.

I went back to a job I really wasn’t super fond of instead of finding another job that was a better fit.
