The current government is trying to pass a law that would make it near impossible to get citizenship based on religion (i.e. if you are Muslim, tough luck cause according to Religious zealots being Muslim is less than human)
You’re referring to the Citizenship Amendment Act which specifically fast-tracks citizenship for non-Muslim refugees from neighboring countires while excluding Muslims, its been a huge controvery since 2019.
