Oscar is here to let you know even more about Season 6 and the various updates we are about to introduce!

tl;dw: All quick play modes are part of a ranking system like World Tour with rewards for each league, the store is overhauled and lets you preview animations before buying, you can save custom outfits independent of gear loadouts, practice range dummies now behave like actual players, tons of improvements to custom games and Spectator Mode, and some more privacy options.

The UI looks really good, it always has imo, but they keep improving it, or maybe I just like seeing new things

I’m not sure how I feel about this anonymous mode.

Currently, when I’m playing WT and get instantly deleted by somebody who just feels suss, I’ll hit ‘P’, copy their embark id from the in game social tab, then paste it into the enhanced leaderboard search open in my steam overlay and check for them on the current seasons Ranked and WT leaderboards. If they’re on either one, I’m fine with it. If they’re not, I’ll quickly click through all the previous seasons ranked and wt leaderboards, back to cb1. If they’re on any leaderboard, I’ll extend the benefit of doubt.

If they’re not on any leaderboard and their gameplay was suss enough for me to check their rankings, I’ll probably send an in game report on them. I’m not a pro level player by any means, but I’ve been playing since cb1 and I’ve been playing multiplayer fps since the late 90s, so I’m fairly confident in my instincts when shit feels wrong.

Oscars comment about it being helpful for players who’ve discovered “unconventional” strats, or whatever he said, has me concerned that they’re implementing this to give cover to emote-cancel abusing dagger players and stuff, which is bad enough. I’m even more worried that this will provide cover to actual cheaters, resulting in both more people cheating and more people submitting false positive reports because they can’t tell that they’re facing a top 500 or top 2k player who is on ever single season and beta leaderboard, making it harder for embark to weed out those FP’s and take action against the legitimate reports.

Idk we’ll see how this goes. I’m still excited for the new season, and the other UX changes seem well thought out.

Yeah, I’m not a huge fan of the anonymous mode so far. I’ve not had an issue with it yet, but I can definitely imagine it being abused. There’s a club that goes into Power Shift a lot who I refuse to play with because all they do is set up spawn traps and refuse to play the objective, and draw every game to the time limit. Not being able to see their tags in the initial lobby would be really annoying, because I hate leaving mid-match.
