Samu Aghehowa

  • Positions: Striker
  • Age: 21
  • Current club: Porto
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - Our name has been casually added to the long list of potential suitors for Porto’s young Spanish/Nigerian striker. But there’s no real substance to the rumours. So don’t expect them to go anywhere unless something drastic changes.

Julián Alvarez

  • Positions: Striker
  • Age: 25
  • Current club: Atletico Madrid
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - The former Man City forward has had a great season with Atletico. Idle chatter has it that we are interested in him (probably due to the Arteta/Man City connection). But Alvarez only signed with Atletico last season, and he’s been saying he’s happy in Spain and reticent to move back to the PL. So this one seems dead on arrival. There’s been some recent talk of this one possibly having some legs to it. But it still seems unlikely.

Carlos Augusto

  • Positions: Left Back
  • Age: 26
  • Current club: Inter Milan
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - Some rumours have emerged linking us to the dual Brazilian/Italian national. He wouldn’t cost a fortune. But he’s probably not too high on the shopping list, not least because Italian clubs are such a hassle to deal with when it comes to transfers.

Luiz Benedetti

  • Positions: Centreback
  • Age: 19
  • Current club: Palmeiras
  • Likelihood: Possible (4/10) 🆕 - Some sources are saying we are in discussions for the young Brazilian defender. But there is a gap in valuation between the two clubs. And if a deal goes through he would be one for the future, and would probably be loaned out in the near term.

Breno Bidon

  • Positions: Central Midfield
  • Age: 20
  • Current club: Corinthians
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - The young Brazilian is now being linked to us as a relatively cheap emerging player. Sources are scant right now. But if this one did pan out, he probably wouldn’t be one seeing a lot of immediate hours.

Malick Fofana

  • Positions: Left Wing
  • Age: 20
  • Current club: Lyon
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - Fofana is a latecomer to our rumour mill. But it seems unlikely Lyon would part ways with a young, talented player. Especially one still with 3 years left on his contract.

Anthony Gordon

  • Positions: Left Wing
  • Age: 24
  • Current club: Newcastle
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - One of Newcastle’s gems, he is formidable down the left wing. It seemed unlikely Newcastle would part with him, especially to a PL rival. There’s still lots of chatter that they are open to him leaving, and that we are interested in him. However, we haven’t made a formal approach, and our priorities appear to lay elsewhere.

Jérémy Jacquet

  • Positions: Centreback
  • Age: 20
  • Current club: Stade Rennais FC
  • Likelihood: Possible (4/10) ➖ - Romano revealed recently that we are eyeing the young, combative central defender, which is a surprise after the arrival of Mosquera. But he is known for drifting wide and carrying the ball forward aggressively. So could also be seen as a defensive midfielder in the making. He’s too old to be an Academy candidate, so it’s likely he’s being seen as a replacement for an outgoing defensive player - possibly Kiwior or Zinchenko. Or perhaps as an eventual replacement for Norgaard. At around 10m Euros, he wouldn’t be a bad addition. Although the focus seems to be on outgoings at the moment.

Bilal El Khannouss

  • Positions: Attacking Midfield
  • Age: 21
  • Current club: Leicester City
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - He had a great season with a struggling Leicester, who may now be open to cashing in on him in their bid to bounce back to the Premier League. He’s currently valued at around £30 million, which isn’t too bad. Rumours persisted for a while that we are currently working on a contract with him. But they have now grown cold. And we have other candidates ahead of him.

Aymeric Laporte

  • Positions: Centreback
  • Age: 31
  • Current club: Al-Nassr FC
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - The former Manchester City player is rumoured to be leaving the Middle East, with us listed as a possible location. The Arteta/Manchester City connection could merit some attention, and it’s possible we might come in as a backup centreback. But the chatter on this one has gone very cold.

Rafael Leão

  • Positions: Left Wing
  • Age: 25
  • Current club: AC Milan
  • Likelihood: Possible (4/10) ➖ - Might be out of favour in Milan and looking to move on. There’s talk that Berta has been in talks with Milan over a move for him. Chatter has largely died down over the summer but is now heating up again.

Ademola Lookman

  • Positions: Striker
  • Age: 27
  • Current club: Atalanta
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - He’s looking to move on from Atalanta, apparently. He’s English, has decent experience, and wouldn’t break the bank. Talk has petered out on this one. And with the imminent arrival of Gyökeres it now seems unlikely.

Christos Mouzakitis

  • Positions: Central Midfield
  • Age: 18
  • Current club: Olympiacos Piraeus
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - The young midfielder has been mentioned recently as a possible target for us. Presumably he’d be considered one for the future, although he probably would cost around £9m, which seems a bit more than we usually pay for teenagers. Sources are still a bit sparse on this one too.

Antonio Nusa

  • Positions: Left Wing
  • Age: 20
  • Current club: Leipzig
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - The young Swiss/Nigerian winger has recently been linked with us. But not many credible sources.

Morgan Rogers

  • Positions: Left Wing
  • Age: 22
  • Current club: Aston Villa
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - He’s apparently being discussed as an option for our left wing after catching the eye with Villa this season. But it’s hard to see Emery or his club giving the green light for the exit of such a promising young player. And now several clubs are swirling in the rumour mill for him.

Vladyslav Vanat

  • Positions: Striker
  • Age: 23
  • Current club: Dynamo Kyiv
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - An intriguing new rumour involves Dynamo’s young striker joining us, presumably as a back-up. He wouldn’t cost too much and has a decent goals to matches ratio. Right now there aren’t too many solid sources for this one. But it’s the kind of deal you could see Arteta and Berta making.

Ollie Watkins

  • Positions: Striker
  • Age: 29
  • Current club: Aston Villa
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - The ship appeared to sail on this one last winter, when we went in for him but were rebuffed (to the annoyance of the player, apparently). However, Watkins is now being seen as the back-up option for Sesko and Gyokeres. And as those deals have now stalled, this one was coming back to life. But it’s grown quiet again this week, and Manchester United are now pushing for him instead as an affordable option for their somewhat limited coffers.

Nelson Weiper

  • Positions: Striker
  • Age: 20
  • Current club: FSV Mainz 05
  • Likelihood: Possible (4/10) ➖ - The young German has very few seniour appearances but he does have a cl good conversion rates with that limited set of data. He would be a bargain at around 10 million, so it’s possible we’d pick him up in addition to a more experienced striker (like Gyokeres). But sources so far are weak, so this is more on the unlikely side of things.

Kenan Yıldız

  • Positions: Left Wing
  • Age: 20
  • Current club: Juventus
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖ - The young Turkish international has appeared on our radar. He’d be a bit pricier than some other winger options, but still not too bad. This one has disappeared from the radar now though.

Warren Zaïre-Emery

  • Positions: Central Midfield, Defensive Midfield
  • Age: 19
  • Current club: Paris Saint-Germain
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) ➖- The young midfielder is now being talked about as a possible replacement for Partey. But it’s hard to see PSG letting a young talent go after they just won the European Cup. And even if they did, apparently he’s higher on the list for several other clubs.

Potential Outs List

Gabriel Jesus

  • Positions: Striker
  • Likelihood: Very Unlikely (1/10) 🔽 - Since we announced Gyorkeres’ signing, talk has erupted from some of the more dodgy sources that our injury-prone Brazilian marksman is contemplating a departure, and we are open to offers for him. The likes of West Ham and the spuds have been mentioned. But right now he is not a priority for selling. And with his recovery progressing well (planned date back is late September), it looks unlikely that we’ll let him go in the near future.

Gabriel Martinelli

  • Positions: Left Wing, Right Wing
  • Likelihood: Unlikely (3/10) 🔽 - There’s been a surge of talk about Fast Gabi perhaps leaving us - especially with the Rodrygo rumours building. Some question his finishing ability, although nobody can doubt his work rate and directness. The Saudis have been interested in him. But he’s doesn’t want to go there and is happy to stay. And if Trossard leaves it seems unlikely we’d let Fast Gabi go too.

And now there are reports coming in that an agreement has been agreed with Shamrock Rovers for him and we’re just waiting for the official announcement.
