Nice to have, but even as a cyclist I’ve avoided them - the standard ones just have terrible gearboxes and hardly go anywhere. I guess they’re built to avoid vandalism, and struggle even with that. If you go for an ebike you’re paying a surprising amount even for a short trip.

Plus, in any American city I’d only want to ride with a helmet which makes them much less convenient.
