How are otters as pets? Compared to say, a dog?

I’m not lucky enough to own one, but my guess would be they are probably higher maintenance since you’d need a water reservoir of some kind. But definitely adorably cute.

Otters are not pets, they are wild animals and need open bodies of water to hunt live prey, freedom to travel, and socialise with other otters. They are very cute but I’d appreciate not seeing them in houses.

I’m sure like other cute wild animals, a lot of them will be captured from the wild for the pet trade.
