I had quite a run in with this heron. Usually I scare them off, but this one was extremely chill. I was able to get as close as 3 feet. Closer than the MFD of my 75-300mm lens 😂. I watched it wade for about an hour catching 5 fish. This was a very cool experience.

I’ve always loved herons too, but I dont remember if we get the big ones or the little ones
Scared one up on the swamp, about 15’ from our canoe. Monster birds! I hadn’t understood the scale until I got right up on one.
