The US is doing pretty bad right now, for sure. But in the history of the earth? I feel like swastika (nazis, obv.), whatever was the most common flag for the perpetrators of the crusades (some form of cross, probably), and the Mongol hordes (did they have a flag?), surely have a fighting chance at winning this title.

And that’s just off the top of my head. I’m sure there’s plenty of devastation I never even learned about.

Yeah, there is definitely some recency bias going on here.

you’re going to ancient history in the desperate attempt to find somebody who has killed more people than your country. you’ve already lost the argument, bud.

The image attached to your post:

…in the history of the Earth.

So its already set up for people to argue on that claim.

I know, but that doesn’t change the fact that them trying to dig through history to find somebody worse kind of negates whatever moral high ground they think they have.

As long as you’re requiring that “history” is restricted to only the timespan that supports your hyperbole… Why not? 🤷🏼‍♂️

it doesn’t matter if I “restricted” history at all, you turd. the point of the fucking argument, had you the mental acuity to fathom it, was that if you’re so defensive that you need to look through history at all, for any length of time, or period, or context, to find some group that has killed more people, then you have no moral high ground and whatever it is that you’re defending is obviously evil.

now get the fuck out of here, statist.

the united states killed more native americans before the nation was completely colonized than there were Jews killed in WW2. that was before we even started invading other countries.

How many millions of Native Americans died, can you give me a number? The Holocaust Museum in Houston can. There were estimated to be over ten million living in what would become the United States. By the year 1900, there were less than 300,000.

That’s more than the amount of Jews killed in WW2. And that’s just before the nation was even fully formed.

so you’re gonna ignore the colonists killing millions of native americans because they weren’t technically called americans yet. classic.

I mean, yes, that would be flags of other nations which currently exist right? The colonists weren’t American, they were specially citizens of Spain, England, Portugal, etc. You have a point that America is shit, but their argument is specific to the wording used in the meme.

I think I’m confused about what you mean now. When the colonists first arrived, none of them were American, nor using the American flag as shown in the original picture, because it didn’t exist yet. They were specifically using other flags because they were citizens of other colonial nations. If your point is colonialism and the treatment of native people was bad, then yes of course you are correct. But if your point is that it was U.S. Americans doing it with an American government and American policies in place, then you are incorrect. Other places are unfortunately bad too, not just the United States.

did those people turn into americans when they killed everyone off, or was it a whole 'nother group?

nobody said they weren’t. but we’re not talking about other places, so idk why you’re bringing whataboutism into it.
