Neurotransmitters aren’t as simple as that really. Dopamine is more associated with engagement, which can be distressful (hyperfocusing) (and neurotransmitters also have a bunch of different uses in the body and brain etc)
I mean, I get you, and I agree, but being hyperfocused can definitely sometimes be distressing to me. Especially when I’m hyperfocusing on something that I don’t really “want” to hyperfocus on, if that makes sense. Obviously I want to hyperfocus on the thing as that’s what engaging me in the moment, but it’s the forefront of my mind, the conscious part, that might disagree. Especially if there’s other stuff that needs to get done, such as work
…I get if this is a bit abstract, but it’s how it makes sense to me
Ah actually that makes a lot of sense. Up until what you said, I never used the term for intense non-productive activity, so it always had positive connotations for me. Huh. Reevaluating some things.
You might look into adderall. As someone with adhd, its the only medicine ive ever found that didnt have any major drawbacks and changed my entire world view. Its astounding what you can do when your body and mind arent fighting you.

I love when I’m hyper-focused. It’s the distracted and non-starting I can’t abide.

I don’t have a diagnosis, just patterns and suspicions. Something to think about.
