In spain they managed to grow half the vegables of all of EU on a landsize equalent to half of new york using the power of the sun inside huge “tents” with roof of clear plastic. This is so impressive, and gives hope for the future!
Aren’t those greenhouses?
Yep, greenhouses make it easier to control the growing conditions, particularly in extreme desert climates

We need food to live. What we need to pick is which solution causes less damages overall per mouth fed.
What is the ecological impact of each?
They probably mean that it’s monoculture (or close to) that destroys (basically) all other life in the utilised land. I suspect they aren’t referring to the amount of people fed per square meter or the released outputs (/pollution) per person fed.
I can see that, amount of land that it utilizes still makes a huge difference there though
I think so too. I think there are probably improvements that could be made for keeping strips of land, and larger chunks, as natural wilderness but most of that would be tradeoffs that will make most sides angry
Agreed. I think they also have a point with it being made of environmentally destructive plastics.
