I subscribed to a few communities. Ill let it run for a bit but whats the post rate? bot checks feed once an hour? etc etc I can see this being very noisy

Ultimately it will be as noisy as the RSS feeds the community is configured for. Most of the noise in local right now is from me adding new communities and new feeds as the bot is backfilling links already in the RSS feeds.

The bot currently checks the RSS feeds every 5 minutes (to capture breaking news quickly), but it only posts new links that it hasn’t seen before. As we start to scale out I may change that to use some actual logic configurable per feed with rate limiting just in case we start to run into performance issues.

My issue since i run a small instance is the noise for sure. Ill definitely run the bot local for my curated feeds. Very cool project

I’ve been seeing a lot of linkbot posts in my All feed and many get very little engagement. It makes browsing All feel very dead and abandoned. I know that your intent is to bring more post content into Lemmy but I wonder what could be done to counteract this (obviously unintentional) side-effect?
