Authto Technology•kurzgesagt – AI Slop Is Killing Our Channel / Destroying the InternetEnglish1619·6 days agoI dont think its AI Slop thats “killing the channel” if that statement is even remotely true its due to more and more of their videos being slop sci low information videos. The target audience must be stoners who want to watch something that is visually appealing and feels educational
It is is you support lemmy’s development which for a foss platform its expected users do
Phew, for a second I thought Framework had actually done something bad. But its just supporting Hyprland which is somehow considered a far right racist project because an unpaid moderator was transphobic in a discord server. People are really trying to squeeze everything they can from this discord drama that happened years ago.
Authto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•how did you make the switch from reddit to lemmy.. i'm trying to myself but struggling to nglEnglish2·7 days agoI like discussion and hearing different point of views. Lemmy is great for one side but i’ve supplemented it with reading HackerNews. I find the discussion on there way more good faith and even though its stupidly pro AI I still like reading why people like AI and posts about how they are using it.
Mostly im just hear for Tech and Linux and memes. After leaving Reddit I barely ever return. Sometimes i open up a sub to scroll the top posts of the month to see if anything was missed
Authto Linux•The amount of mental gymnastics to come up with (and justify) this is insaneEnglish5·7 days agothe X found in the corner of a window is normally associated with closing the window and should not open another ad
God dammit Dave, this is sick and twisted.
The issue is when the entire sub is filled with people who look young enough to be under 18 its very hard for admins to tell when they’re actually under 18. After the ban the fashion sub posted people clearly under 18 and used the excuse that its fine because they’re clothed and they’re just reviewing the fashion.
It wasnt illegal if people only posted girls over 18 but thats not the case. There were a ton of under 18s being posted. When it was banned the sub pivoted to some like “fashion” sub and continued posting under 18s and 18s for plausible deniability.
No, I can put atheist alongside racist and cp because the front page was full of atheist posts > Racist posts > CP. No this doesn’t mean all atheists.
yeah i never made that point. I was vaguely mentioning the popular topics on the site at the time.
I dont care for this point, I never intended to claim that it has less atheists now. I only wanted to describe how reddit started.
I saw a talk from a guy that I found interesting and horrible if it comes true. Basically his idea was using an LLM layer instead of an application. So you throw whatever you want into it and it spits out a response as if it were that application. He wrote a demo online chat program that let you chat from friends and generate a gui.
Some things that were cool was that it was very fluid, if you wanted to play chess in the chat window you could (its ai so the chess was scuffed and didnt adhear to the rules) if you wanted to retheme the ‘app’ you could.
But turning computers into some ai dream scape mess sounds like a horrible idea and an awful future. Its like DLSS turning games from sharp relestic worlds with low latency into high latency blurry messes.
you can pull out all the citations you want but it wont be relevant. Early reddit was rife with cp.

There is discussion but the userbase’s interests arent super wide so at the moment its techy and politicsy. Which is fine at least we arent following reddit which started out with racists, atheiests and child porn.
I’ve recently been checking out reddit to see discussion on a few topics not covered here, MMA and beyond all reason. I’m shocked by how low quality the comments are. I can open a 900 comment thread and not see a single comment that discusses the thread topic or discusses anything.
Authto Fuck AI•Deloitte to pay money back to Australian government after using AI in $440,000 reportEnglish6·9 days agoThe issue is still using AI as its sensitive data and shouldnt be given to 3rd parties.
seriously hate modern implementations of AI and am willing to make concessions in my life to avoid using it
Props for standing on business and actually taking the steps to make a change
Its used for secret storage all throughout the windows operating system not just microsoft account.
Can you tell me exactly what the lead dev of Hyprland did?
