Tastes vary widely of course. There is more content now than ever, and the majority of content has always been crap. Finding gems has always been a challenge, but they are out there. Some of the best streaming shows I’ve ever watched in my life are recent ones.

Movies, I don’t watch much anymore, but with some effort I can usually find something I enjoy.

Games, I’m older, so don’t enjoy them very often, but I had an absolute blast playing some sandbox games on Steam not too long ago. And I had even more fun playing OpenXCom. (Which is a very old game, but it’s been updated.)

And there are thousands of great books to read. That’s one antidote for short attention spans.

I know Lemmy hates AI, but ChatGPT pretty decent at suggesting titles from all of these forms of entertainment if you tell it your likes and dislikes.

If I was still young and ambitious: work on certs and resume building.

Now that I’m old, burned out, and planning to retire (financially ready or not) I primarily work on game prep for my tabletop RPGs hobby.

White male power fantasies are what got us into this mess in the first place. People calling for violence are idiots. Non-violent resistance has a much better historical record of successes. Violence will escalate and lose long-term.

They romanticize these jobs in every form of art and media so that suckers, I mean brave young people, will sign up for those jobs. Because the media caters to the average dumbass, the media goes along with the narrative.

I second the Kobo. I’ve owned 3 different kindles over the years, and I like the Kobo better than any of them.

These might become a thing in the US when some vapid influencer acts smug toward ‘dirty people’ who can’t afford one.

State Farm. They spend ungodly money on NFL players and nonstop obnoxious TV ads, yet deny claims every hour of every day.

Was watching TV with the dog next to me on the couch. A song I like came on and I sang along and my dog stared at me in amazement. Since then, she doesn’t care when I sing. I think it was just a one time surprise.

Being adult is highly overrated. Look at all the “serious” people ruining the world with their greed and selfishness. Never let the inner child die. Children inherently understand morals that adults corrupt with religion and over-thinking.

Nobody wants Clippy OS, Microsoft. Good part is, they are edging more people to Linux.

There are so many users on both that exclusively (or nearly exclusively) contribute “gotcha” replies only. Never an original thought or comment. They only want to “call out” others. Sniper-camper mentality. You can easily see it in their histories. I block them aggressively.
