  • Pretty sure the majority of the US conservative base is not wealthy. Only the top 0.1% has benefited financially from recent changes.

I think it has a lot more to do with someone’s own experiences with government. I’ve lived in areas with corrupt local governments and incredibly well run governments. I can absolutely understand those who live their whole lives under corrupt local governments, the ones they actually interact with on a regular basis, thinking every other one is just as bad and wanting it as limited as possible.

Then of course there’s the more hate oriented agendas, but calling those merely conservative feels like we’re being too kind to them.

  • Those $1000 chairs are not uncomfortable. A lot of the price is also the warranty and they are much cheaper for a business bulk purchasing.

I love picking up Aeron or similar stuff used. They’re great chairs and a used one isn’t any more expensive than those horrible racing style chairs but will actually last and be comfortable for over a decade. My current one is a 2006 model and still going strong.

  • Swapped to CachyOS

    Pros:

    • Super easy OS install
    • Good tool for installing steam
    • Most games play fine but knew this already from my steam deck

    Cons:

    • Struggled to find how to setup services like Jellfin, SABnzbd, etc. Not as simple as just installing them on windows, but not bad once I figured out how services work.
    • Heavily modded games like Total War Warhammer 3 were a pain since the modding tools are designed for Windows. Got them working, but stability was worse.
    • No Virtual Desktop for my Quest 3. I’ve heard I can get VR working on it, but only for games.
    • Getting write access on my existing NTFS drive was a pain. Read access worked, by I had to change ownership from root on all files to allow changes.
