If you liked The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern you also might like Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrel by Susan Cooper.

I never read Solar Punk, I’ll give it a try.

Non-Fiction can be good as well. I recently read The Berlin Diary by William Shirer. It’s Shirers diary he wrote while stationed as a journalist during Nazi Germany and published when he came back to the US. It reads astonishingly modern and is absolutely infuriating while you read about his struggle to inform an oblivious american public about the crimes of the nazis.

On Writing Well by William Zinsser is also very entertaining and informative.

  • Was listening to some computer podcast a while ago and the co-host and ex- hacker was saying that more and more VPNs are getting targeted and it’s just a matter of time we see quite a bit of them owned. (I think he was talking about implementation of VPNs for remote workers, rather than actual VPN providers. Sorry, it was some time ago)

Anyway, the host asked „What about wireguard?“

And the co-host: „Oh yeah, wireguard is solid! But all the services building up on wireguard? … They’ll get popped.“

Doesn’t have to be true, but something to keep in mind.

  • The mantra of /r/malelivingspace:

    • proper lightsource like a standing lamp
    • some potted plant for color and life
    • get at least an armchair, dude.
    • TV wallmounted at an appropriate height
    • separation of living and sleeping (No TV in the bedroom)
    • get a rug that that really ties the room together
    • a big framed (!) artpiece like a painting or poster

There’s an IKEA couch table that used to cost 15 bucks and looks pretty good. Use rugs to create islands in the room, for example beneath the couch area. Use pillows on the couch as color accents. Maybe paint the walls something different than white.

Look on YouTube and the net, there should be plenty of inspiration.

As someone who re-discovered writing by hand a few years ago, I recommend Leuchtturm1917 Notebooks. They’re expensive but have really good quality.

Also, I got back into using a fountain pen and I absolutely love it. Maybe give it a try!

If you do, check out the „Pen Addict“ podcast, they should have recommendations for cheap beginner pens.
