That’s fair. People were definitely looking for any excuse.
That’s fair. People were definitely looking for any excuse.
This is something that really bothered me about the recent election. It was clear that Cheney was only campaigning with Harris because she wanted to stop Trump not because she agreed with the policies of Harris. She was still a believer in “Republican” policies but understood the danger of Trump winning and did what she could to make him lose.
The left then said that because she was being put out there by the Harris campaign as someone who would help get people to vote for her that must have meant she agreed with all of Harris’s policies. Which means Harris must have been a Republican and had all Republican policies despite her having multiple rather progressive policies that the majority of people support.
Instead of having the completely rational thought that if a shitty Republican like Cheney refuses to vote for Trump and says we should all vote against him then that’s a positive and should help convince independents and non voters that this was such an important election, they ignored that and made BS assumptions and accusations about the entire Harris campaign. It fucking sucked.
No prob! Happy to help!
That’s not actually true. He won with 49.8% of the vote and Harris got 48.3%. So he didn’t even win a majority.
I got so fucking excited seeing this that I went to see if I could buy tickets only to find out that no, in fact, it is not the 10th anniversary this year. That it was the 10th anniversary and in theaters almost 2 years ago. I am now very disappointed.
How is saying we are deserving of human rights demanding the focus be on us? The only fucking reason we have been so in the news is solely because of the right trying to make our very care and existence in public illegal? Should we just say “we shouldn’t advocate for our rights until the Democrats win?” Because then what’s to stop the Democrats from “winning” by throwing trans people under the bus and saying we deserve to be ostracized? The left-ish party won in the UK and they’ve been shitty to trans people too.
We shouldn’t just stop fighting when people are literally trying to make us kill ourselves and to make our existence illegal. All democrats need to say is “Trans people are deserving of human rights, they should be treated like everyone else, should be allowed to have care and be accepted into society and do whatever anyone else can do. Now let’s get back to how I want to make it cheaper to live”.
We had a candidate in Harris who barely mentioned trans people and that allowed the right to go unchallenged in that area. You can’t just abandon or ignore us, a simple heartfelt defense is all that is necessary, have it in your platform, and then move on to the other more impactful for the rest of the populace policies.
Edit: we’ve been around for forever and only just recently been so present in the news because of the right wing. That’s not our want. We would rather be able to live and exist without the world looking on us as an “issue”.
Ah yes, very smart, let’s use a nuke to blow up a nuclear facility. There couldn’t possibly be a much larger explosion and spread of radiation because of that.
“Hey, listen, we love you,” he said of the message he thinks should be sent to young trans athletes. “We want you to be part of our community, but this is just the one place you can’t play, and let’s find other activities for you to be involved.”
We love you, but only so much. Sometimes you have to understand that you’re less than others, that they’re more important than you, inherently.
I write on Substack about Videogames and I would fucking hate to have my articles, that I spend a lot of time on, be in the Washington Post. I hate that place. Even the article series I wrote that is significantly research based and took me a couple months to put together and release and that has led to me writing a book to go into more detail I wouldn’t want to have in that trash piece.
All the Harris campaign had to do to make sure this wasn’t a thing was simply ask for a recount. That’s it. They had the money. I understand that it might have looked bad as if she was a sore loser, but a recount in one swing state would have been easy, could have shown any discrepancies, and we would have known that either nothing happened or something happened.
In 2020 they did recount after recount and always found the same result that Biden won. Not doing recounts is insane.
On fucking point. My mom, who has seen me deal with my MS and all it’s myriad of symptoms has still told me time and again I should try yoga to help with things that are just how my brain is damaged. I fucking hate cherry picked evidence and wish education was more accessible so more people with disabilities could more easily become doctors.
My thought as well. I totally get if you want it replaced with Medicare for all (I do), but no actual Democrat wants that shit repealed outright without a universal healthcare replacement.
Something interesting, according to this survey 27% of democrat non voters want Obamacare repealed. 27% think women are too easily offended. 20% are pro-life.
As the article suggests, however, we shouldn’t really take this data as a defining reason for why democratic voters didn’t come out to vote. Even more so, the data literally shows that the majority still broadly support progressive policies. Portraying this as “oh the Democrats were too progressive or too far left” is BS. The articles first couple paragraphs focus on portraying things from this perspective but it does get better.
I think you should just look at the graph though. That’s the data. And it shows that non-voters were still majority supporters of progressive policies. That’s what matters.
Something important, these two were “defeated” through warfare. Showing how that’s likely how this will end.
No no, he doesn’t drink the blood of children, he uses an IV of it. They call it plumping.
This is what Alex Jones says as well so you know it’s legit.
I think one of the biggest issues standing in the way of widespread acceptance of trans people is generally not understanding what we actually do or are like.
So like, most people completely misunderstand how hrt works. They think that you do it and only really get a better mental space. But that’s not true at all. Everyone I have known on hormones get so many changes. Our hairlines can change, our bone density decreases or increases to match the gender your hormones match with, our bodies redistribute fat, our skin changes, even our body smells change, we lose or gain muscle mass to again come in line with whatever our hormones match. Our body chemicals change. Estrogen can decrease the size of your feet by a size and can literally make your hips grow and change how your weight is distributed. Testosterone can make you grow a full bushy as fuck beard and a such a deep voice you’ll never know the person ever had a higher pitched one. Everything changes on hormones and cis people just don’t seem to understand that at all. I’ve known many trans people who transition so well that other trans people don’t believe they’re trans and think they’re cis.
Add on that they don’t understand bottom surgery and it just gets annoying as fuck. The fact that cutting dicks off is still how so many cis people think femme bottom surgery works is so fucking infuriating and it happens when leftists reference it too.
I think if more cis people simply knew trans people and were willing to discuss with them about what being trans is like then there would be more general acceptance.
So the plan for this competition is having 3 scoring categories, apparently. So a “biological male”, a “biological female”, and a trans category. So trans men and women will compete against each other.
Or, they would, if there was any more than the one athlete that is competing. Which means she will win, even if she fucking walks. This is insane and is the bullshit “separate but equal” thing people keep talking about being the supposed “solution”.
Trans people don’t dominate sports and there aren’t enough for them to have their own leagues. If you think they do dominate then you’re obviously misinformed. Trans people have been allowed to compete in sports for a long time and there has never been a problem with it, until fucking Republicans needed a new boogeyman to galvanize their base.
Fuck Newsom. Fuck Trump. And fuck anyone who refuses to actually try to understand the reality of being trans and the reality of just wanting to play sports like everyone else.
There aren’t that many trans folk who are athletes. There definitely won’t be enough for a team at colleges, in communities for kids teams, and professional wise thatd be impossible. Add on that that would mean at competitions, with how few trans people are doing sports, the very few people would always get medals.
Theres also the matter of putting trans women against trans men is, if you go by the supposed rules of fairness these people argue for then, incredibly unfair (especially if it’s not separated by weight class which is next to impossible since again there aren’t enough trans people who do sports) and means that trans women would usually lose because they lose all their muscle mass after transition. Estrogen does that.
There’s also the matter of securing funding. Women’s sports are already under funded so how would q sport team that is too small and an unfair competition secure any funding?
The reality is that trans people having an unfair advantage is fucking BS. Trans women lose all advantages they might have had over cis women when they transition. Once they get in the same hormones level they only could have the same kind of genetic advantages that cis women could have. Like height and wing span and all the other shit that cis women can have just as often.
This also ignores trans men who, if being forced to compete against cis women, would dominate because they are actively taking testosterone.
The best, and only solution is to allow trans folk to compete in matching leagues to their gender identity as long as they’re on hormones. Which is already a rule in every single sport trans people compete in.
Yeah, so the gaffe in this speech would just have been in the present tense instead of past tense since he had already had that skin cancer removed. Which was stated in the article but still.
Edit: fixed I’m to in
But there were queer voices speaking for the campaign. There weren’t really trans people, even though there should have been. But there were definitely queer voices being out there. Also many many progessives campaigned for her as well. Fuckin hell Tim Waltz is an incredibly progressive governor and he was on the ticket.
As for Palestinian voices, sure. Those should have been there absolutely. But them not being there doesn’t somehow invalidate that there still was a coalition of people trying to join together to fight against Fascists.
