News•Gas Stoves Account For More Than Half of Some Americans’ Exposure to a Known Toxin, New Research Concludes
3·3 days agoI considered trying to move the oven. Not sure how flexible the gas line is, or if it should be disconnected first etc. I’m comfortable with electric, don’t know a thing about gas beyond not to mess with it.
There’s a dedicated 240V 40A breaker in the panel, has been in the tripped position since before we moved in. I haven’t physically traced the line, cramped attic and semi-finished basement. When replacement time gets nearer I’ll take a closer look before making a decision. Just not looking forward to it. Every time I’ve taken a closer look at this place, I haven’t liked what I found. 🫠

10·3 days agoI didn’t need to another couple grand to run a new 240V line to my kitchen
I’ve already got a circuit run. A prior owner installed a gas stove at some point 20+ years ago. The issue is that I can’t test the outlet without removing the current oven. Knowing a bit about the prior owners, it wouldn’t surprise me if they went with gas due to an electrical failure. Hooray for question marks and cover ups.
I was doing okay up until reading this comment. Now I’m hungry.

2·5 days agoNoted on the family-imposed definition. I was trying to be more general - “us” could be you and I, or people like us. But the more I think about it the more I think I botched it. Definitely wasn’t trying to invalidate your experience. Shit’s hard enough as it is, ya know?

5·5 days agoThere’s more of us than there are of them. The problem is knowing who they are and who we are. Finding out is a process. Get burned enough times and the process feels pointless.
How the others fired Tarja had tarnished the band for me, so I lost interest in their albums after that.
They kind of fell off my radar for a bit (real life etc) right around Century Child, so I missed both rounds of singer drama. But I am with you 100%. Disgraceful. It was a lot to take in when I picked up the band again. But the upshot to missing it in real time is seeing how things improved. Bye Bye Beautiful and Master Passion Greed are permanently retired. Tuomas stopped writing borderline creeper unrequited love songs and has leaned more into a naturalist/humanist approach. They seem to treat Floor well. I can only hope the maturation on display has been internalized.
But then Marko up and quit, so… who knows. (._.)
I’ll be honest, I kinda dropped this band when Dark Passion Play came around. I was immediately drawn to the band with Tarja as vocalist
Big same. I wasn’t following closely (or at all, really) and missed the Tarja drama. So I was very confused when I first heard Amaranth. I never really gave the songs a chance since Tarja’s sound was a big part of what appealed to me about Nightwish. Anette’s style really wasn’t my thing.
I didn’t realize they had gotten a new vocalist until after Endless Forms came out. Finally gave it a try, and… yeah. Floor is basically perfect for the band. I don’t think she’s in the same class as Tarja when it comes to operatic/classical vocals - she just doesn’t have the fullness or tone. But she can still pull it off decently. Where she really shines with the back catalog is where she makes the songs her own. You’ve already been turned on to GLS. Check out Dark Chest of Wonders from the same set (or any live performance really). Romanticide. Slaying the Dreamer. Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean. All great renditions.
For Floor-original studio tracks, Weak Fantasy, My Walden, Noise, Shoemaker, Pan are some of my favorites. I haven’t really been able to spend much time with Yesterwynde (2024 album), been slacking I guess since 2025 is almost over lol.
Going back to live stuff… if you want to cry, check out Poet and the Pendulum from Vehicle of Spirit (Wembley 2015). Just… wow.

15·6 days agoWhich is ironic considering the subpar court ruled that bribes were perfectly legal so long as they happened after the fact and referred to as gratuities.
It’s a well known leftist term and is almost 100 years old now. I have a hard time believing you didn’t already know this.
There’s an ongoing campaign by the usual suspects to pretend the word doesn’t have a definition beyond “epithet for The Real Left used by ignorant libtards.” Usually followed by a wall of text containing circular references as citations.
Good trial run, Carl. Next time we should try adding the coconut.

The GQX remixes of classic designs were a mixed bag. I can’t decide if this or the Dom is my favorite. Either way, ya did it justice.
