For ~97% of the computer using population it is a hot new tech.

Compared to the state of consumer-grade Linux 5 years ago to today, it’s absolutely a hot new tech.

One cannot understate the impact that the Steam Deck and Proton had on driving consumer-friendly features to Linux simply from the demand of an exploding user base.

  • It’s the level of hoops an ADHD person needs to jump through to get any treatment, let alone adequate treatment. Forms, calling for appointments, more forms, tracking stuff, nagging your doctor to full prescriptions, and so on. Every step of which is another wall to climb for an ADHD person.

Everything about the process to get both diagnosed and treated involves tasks that are not compatible with the ADHD brain.

  • The gearbox only exists because the engine can only go so fast.

Oversimplified. The transmission exists because engines are optimally efficient at specific RPM ranges and the transmission works to keep the engine in those ranges. It/you (auto vs stick) will also downshift to provide more power at the cost of efficiency if hard acceleration is required.

When doing 130 you can essentially only see your own lane well, with rudimentary details in the other adjacent lanes

If you can’t see adjacent lanes, then you’re not scanning properly. This is called tunnel vision and where I live you’ll fail a road test for it. You’d also fail for going 130km/h.

  • A couple bombs can take out a gigawatt+ generation plant. A couple dozen acres of solar panels will need much, much more, with each individual strike having far less impact and being far easier to repair after. On top of that, solar can be widely distributed and embedded in much smaller footprints, into civilian areas, and so on. Solar also has less infrastructure requirements such as access to water where destroying a dam for example can render one or more power plats inoperable.

The ring doesn’t as much make you invisible as it transports you into the shadow realm. Sauron, however existed in both the real world and the shadow realm, so there was no transporting needing to happen there.
