Nope it creates a little database, which you could manualy edit I suppose.
Is it really not written? I saw apt upgrade --update and knew the standard shortcut would be -u, but that didn’t work so I tried -U, bingo bongo off I went.

My own take (having plenty of old bikes in various states of disrepair) is either buy another for spares, or ditch orignality and engine swap it (ax100 is cheap and half a chance of fitting)

There are an awful lots of games out there for this game engine, quite a few modern well done retro shooters you can buy as well. but yea not so much actual doom play going on.
