  • Pretty much every Brazilian uses whatsapp, the rest of south America also uses it but I can’t guarantee it being that close to 100% like Brasil, then you have places like the EU, Asia (not in China, they have WeChat iirc) and I’d be surprised if it isn’t advice 1 billion people. Whatsapp didn’t take over the USA because you guys had sms for free, while most of the world didn’t, and after you hit a certain critical mass of users, even those who don’t want to (me) have to use it for work, friends and family. Everyone lives in their own bubbles, and the US has SEVERAL bubbles completely different from the rest of the world

  • Samsung is in my shitlist for their horrible shady business with their smartphones, but even tho I want to never buy anything Samsung again I still think their m.2 SSDs are really good, did something happen with that division that showed it’s also shitty? I want to know and hate even more on Samsung

Story why I hate Samsung (was too long to put in the middle): bought a s21 fe thinking I’m getting a snapdragon processor, they hid never mentioned anywhere in the page that this specific model has their piece of shit exynos processor that literally struggles to run anything, overheats if it isn’t on battery saving mode and goes through the battery like it’s on sale

  • Really? I did a quick look a while back and it seemed pretty lenient in comparison to America and Canada, don’t know if I missed something tho, but the only thing that was really restricting that I recall was getting paid enough, which can be difficult, but it’s not like Canada’s and the USA’s many many restrictions and hoops you gotta jump through

  • Linux isn’t for everyone, this isn’t a false statement, it’s 100% true. I consider myself more tech savvy than the general population and I have had to do a LOT of troubleshooting on every Linux install I tried, for things that should have just worked out of the box, and I needed help from friends who are much more tech savvy (people who deal with servers for a living and their hobbies are setting up NAS servers and messing with tech in general) and they all had some trouble with some issues I was having, like for example a Bluetooth USB adapter not working that on windows was just plug and play, and it turned out that the GUI that came with mint just didn’t actually change any settings, and I had to go to the terminal and type the commands to directly control the Bluetooth stuff. I can deal with all of these and other issues, but my dad who has to be reminded how to download a picture from whatsapp on his laptop to send through his email could never deal with Linux, something would pop up every single day and he would need someone to help him. Hell, I installed libre office for him to use and he kept having issues with it, his documents wouldn’t show up, they would not be saved properly or where he wanted, would lag a lot, updates would be super slow and that’s ignoring stuff like the GUI differences that made him constantly have to stop and search for what he wanted. I ended up installing office and cracking it for him to be able to keep messing with his text documents and excel sheets

If Linux is to become the OS for everyone, it needs to become much more foolproof, and currently it is not that

Smaller modern cars still have the same safety features, marketing has found the best way to make consumers want new and more expensive cars through the idea of big car=safe, which only becomes true if the other car involved in a crash is also big, but just like the comic shows, it becomes an arms race where it only increases the danger, as a bigger car also has bigger inertia, so a crash at the same speed has drastic different energy transference.

I’ll start saying I’m Brazilian and have never gone to the British islands, but I feel like this is wrong just by beef Wellington being so low. I’ve had a homemade one and it was the best thing ever, and even before having it, it just sounds so delicious!!! Anyway besides that everything above the lowest tier are def on my list of things I’d love to try at least once, while some of the lowest tier just make me not want to try because of the idea of what bit of meat I’d be eating, I would give it a try since I do enjoy a bit of liver every know and then, and chicken hearts are really good (at least in the Brazilian BBQ style) so I could like boss sausages and other things

  • Yup, but there’s something uniquely “appealing” and appalling about the whole idea of poisoning people to be dumb that just feels even worse, but the decay of the public education in the US definitively has been happening and is leading to that same conclusion, with at least a possibility of people only being taught wrong or not taught at all, instead of actually being dumber and unable to learn
