The Cosmere@sh.itjust.works•[No Spoilers] Update From Brandon (Apple TV acquires rights for Cosmere)English
2·1 month agoHappy to share anything cosmere!
Didn’t create this community it’s just that the others are either kind of dead or dead dead so this one seemed like the best place even though it’s completely empty ( @[email protected] ?).I haven’t read much of the other works in cosmere (yet!) except for Warbreaker (recommended), whole Mistborn and the SA we have.
I do highly recommend reading Mistborn: Secret History after WoR if you haven’t yet.
I read it later after SA 5/Wind and Truth and had to search online to remind myself what happened in Mistborn. So unsure what to recommend else, I believe the rest of the works (esp Yumi&NP, Tress) are a bit more loose when it comes to connecting back to the Cosmere we know about from SA, but I haven’t read them (yet!) so eh? :D
My next planned Cosmere book is Sunlit Man and afaik would recommend keeping that one on the side until after SA5 (someone please correct me if I am wrong!)

Update From Brandon
Hey, all! News has broken. Rather than post on all the threads, I figured I would do a new post here with some info and thoughts.
In May I flew to Hollywood to start looking for a new partner on the Cosmere. This is something I’ve done before, but this time it was different. I’d been off the market for many years, working with Epic and my friends there.
That means this was my first time being in Hollywood with my Cosmere rights since…oh, 2016?
This time, I got to meet the real decision makers. Not just producers or low level executives. And this led to some really tough choices. I got the red carpet treatment, and liked everyone I met.
The decision to pick Apple was due to two factors. First, the level of approvals and control. Apple wants to be a true partner with me, and they feel like they really get what I want to do. Second, their track record. Apple does fewer things, but with higher quality, than some other studios. I find virtually every thing of theirs I watch is excellent and creator driven.
Join me for a livestream on Friday, probably 6pm mountain. I’ll talk more then. But I will be writing the Mistborn screenplay myself over the next 5 months, as my full time work. Goal is for a theatrical Mistborn, then Stormlight show after. Focus on doing it carefully and right.
I promise not to get too distracted to do books. However, if I want this done right, I need to give some real attention and heart to it now.
does fish have fuzzy reverse hostory search?
Chris Boden/physicsduck has a rather unusual collection of “ambient” videos of old machinery running, various hydro dam sneak peeks etc.
Not the same but maybe similar?

Technology•Microsoft wants to replace its entire C and C++ codebase, perhaps by 2030English
13·3 months agoA man can wish but they would never do that because of GPL and thus having to also open source anything built-in/in-top by them (afaik?)
For people who don’t know what libadwaita means here - GNOME by default does not support one of the most common way gui apps do tray icons, you need an extension for it (which is obviously pre-installed by many distros).

4·3 months agoWhy though when you can just
apt install ...and have it auto update etc.
Do the nvidias .run files basically do that too? Thought the official .runs are just binaries/libs getting dumped into correct places same as oldmake install

Linux Gaming•MSI GEFORCE RTX 5050 8GB Nvidia card- sold but not useable?English
20·3 months agoI am pretty sure no distro uses/works with the the .run files, you should be installing the drivers through the respective package manager.
Also why Kali? it’s a very specialized distribution for cyber security. It’s not for usual desktop uses

Linux Gaming•Switching to AMD GPU for better gaming performance?English
12·3 months agoI’ve switched from 3090 to the XTX few months back because of a really weird and unique bugs in one of my games (but otherwise it worked alright) and for few months had a lot more problems then I had with nvidia, especially with suspend but sometimes it would just crash (Plasma).
I did also switch to Plasma/Wayland with the upgrade so who knows but few kernels/mesa versions back were really bad, it works nicely now though [Arch]
I have only played D:OS 2 too but afaik the first Divinity games are pretty hardcore when it comes to gore (?).

Let me guess, samsung odyssey? Had one of those, never again.
Friend even called me that he has fucked up his pc rebuild - his Samsung monitor was just not waking up because it literally turns off.
