Privacy@lemmy.ml•Is Atomic Mail really that secure and private? Is it reliable?English
41·10 days agoUse a libre app (Thunderbird) and turn on end-to-end encryption (OpenPGP).
Then, the only things you need from a mail provider are private sign up, account management, payments (Monero) and obviously IMAP.
Get a phone case with a credit card slot in the back and replace your cloud storage with Syncthing.

Look into formal complaints procedures.
WhatsApp can never secure our messages because it is not libre software, so we do not control it. Both are trash but at least WhatsApp uses the internet instead of directly costing money like SMS.
Avoid Acrescent which promotes anti-libre software.
Oh, that’s a good start. Teach them about libre software and show them F-Droid. PipePipe works better than NewPipe and you can get it there too. Good luck!
Remove Netflix, proprietary software.

14·12 days agoThe solution is pushing your government to do their fucking job and regulate these companies so they can’t take blatant anti-costumer measures.
Now you’re giving a solution. Led with that.

12·12 days agoI seriously think we need a campaign to empower devs because the solutions are going to have to come from software, and that takes real people’s labor, talent and time. That is solely what I’m advocating for.
Great, agreed. Wish more led with this.
