  • i think one solution is to take notes while reading. maybe try and summarize the plot or write down some interesting things. I also read a lot and notes help keep things together. What I do after reading a book is to go through the highlights I made (which don’t take much effort in the moment) and see if I wanna make any of them permanent in my obsidian vault. That process takes from ten minutes to an hour per book, but that’s how insights stick. It gets you actually thinking about the book, instead of just experiencing it without much brain activity. But sometimes when I know I’m reading trash turning off my brain can be comfortable too.

  • what’s new is the far right trying to move everyone beyond truth, into a realm where nothing matters and it’s fine if the president raped a few girls because a few years ago you heard that his enemies (which he calls stupid names so the idea sticks better) actually did even more evil things something something adrenochrome, and nobody actually knows whether the president is an evil pedophile because there are many stories about many things coming from every side and if they just saturate the media enough with stories a few well timed stories can change major upcoming events and that’s how propaganda works now

  • minecraft can be very nice and wholesome, it’s just that nice and wholesome doesn’t sell (or rather big companies don’t think it sells in this case). hermitcraft is an example of nice and wholesome minecraft, just a bunch of people playing on one minecraft server for a year or more (and then they start a new world, restarting the series in a new season) and making videos about every week. the members are usually pretty creative and kindhearted, and I can’t really complain about them at all except maybe iskall, who had allegations pop up about him sexting women while married, who reacted to the allegations super unhelpfully and who left or got kicked off the server very quickly. major decisions like that are done by the server members voting on decisions instead of just one person being a bit dictatorish.

if you’re very passionate about something it’s easy to use strong words, and i think while it’s annoying to me it’s generally acceptable if used like this. I can’t personally develop any strong feelings about vegetarianism or veganism, but I’ve had my passionate political moments in my life (and still do sometimes) and I guess it’s kind of respect worthy, at least when I myself can see the logic of the argument or even agree to an extent.

Used to be I would get pretty frenzied when confronted with what I could fathom about capitalism, so I can empathize.
