In an enterprise setting, you shouldn’t trust the server firewall. You lock that down with your network equipment.

Edit: sorry, I failed to read the whole post 🤦‍♂️. I don’t have a good answer for you. When I used docker in my homelab, I exposed services using labels and a traefik container similar to this: https://docs.docker.com/guides/traefik/#using-traefik-with-docker

That doesn’t protect you from accidentally exposing ports, but it helps make it more obvious when it happens.

  • If this needed a permit + inspection, that could be a good route to getting the contractor to fix the work. Or having it inspected by the engineer.

Also, if you have a trusted third party fail the inspection and the contractor doesn’t fix it, you have good documentation for whatever next step you take (court, refusing payment, etc).

  • I’ve been following this situation. This article leaves out a ton of relevant info. Here’s some more details in no particular order:

    • The assignment had nothing to do with transgenderism. It was to read and discuss an academic paper about socially enforced gender norms (e.g., bullying the tomboy for not wearing makeup).
    • The instructor is a grad student.
    • The same day the student filed the complaint, a second grader (a professor I think) re-graded the paper and confirmed the original grade.

Someone I follow on another platform pointed out that this looks suspiciously like a setup to stoke outrage and media attention.

    • Samantha Fulnecky is a junior and this is a freshman course.
    • This section of the course is the only section taught by a transwoman.
    • The assignment is not a meaningful part of the grade. Think of it as a weekly assignment, not a major paper or exam.
    • Samantha’s mother is a lawyer and conservative activist known for representing two Jan 6ers and for fighting COVID-related mandates. She has been in national news before.
    • Samantha & mother contacted media outlets the same day Samantha filed the complaint (the regrade happened that same day too).

Someone already mentioned couples therapy, but I want to reinforce that. Yes, there are ADHD coping skills that you are personally working on. But if you’re both interested in improving your relationship, there are things that you can work on together (and many of them won’t be ADHD-related).

When you’re looking for a couples therapist, if you can find one that’s experienced with ADHD, that might be helpful.

One last thought. Sometimes when we have ADHD, we have some internalized ableism. I see some of that in your post: “took me a year to get off my butt,” “I wasted a whole year doing nothing.” Both of those statements imply you were “lazy.” Executive dysfunction can make simple tasks much harder. ADHD people often struggle with medical care. Things like finding a doctor, setting appointments (showing up on-time to an appointment), and getting prescriptions refilled can be huge hurdles. The key is to find systems and supports to help you handle those challenges.
