As much as I advocate autonomous cars and have taken multiple Waymos in a couple cities, one limitation Waymos have is when there is a queuing situation like at dropoff/pickup areas. Whenever organized chaos is overcome by humans and nonverbal communication, Waymos just fall flat. Hotel valet areas, office building dropoff areas, narrow streets with parking on both sides when a work truck is parked to unload something, etc. Waymos just stop working.

Reading the back-story for why she made headlines is basically Republicans in a nutshell. A white male R state senator took a subtle photo of an Iranian-American female D state senator without her permission. He then shared the photo on a GOP group chat where they all made fun of her and said she looks like a stripper and a prostitute. When it got reported that this was happening in their chat, he deleted his post and denied knowing anything about it. The guy is also the Chair of the anti-harassment committee. This woman who just resigned also said she had no idea who took the photo or anything about the chat that she was on. When security footage showed the guy took the photo and screenshots of the chat showed him making fun of her, he decided to resign to avoid punishment while also making a Twitter post about how he was being unjustly persecuted. This woman also got on the floor to yell at people for calling to question her integrity for lying about who took the photo and everything about the case.

How dare this woman of color act like a white person while wearing whatever she wants!?!

Why would I want a device that I never use? I only make phone calls roughly 3 times per week. I message multiple times a day, but flip phones had shitty interfaces for typing. The vast majority of my phone use is web search, camera, navigation, and messaging. Flip phones could get better cameras than they used to have. Their screens were too small to do great at web searching. Navigation might work, I guess. Although I used to love my Treo and Pre for the full physical keyboard, I prefer swype typing now to tapping or physical keys.

Only rural mail carriers in areas where the regional office does not provide cars are affected by this, and only if they choose to use their own car. They can always walk or bike. And if they choose to use their own car, they get reimbursed for it.

Not exactly true. The rule is that if you are a RURAL mail carrier in an area the does NOT provide a vehicle for you, then you can be reimbursed for using your own vehicle as long as it meets certain standards.

You also have to factor in that parents these days don’t let their kids go outside and do anything by themselves. My aunt won’t let her 10 year old grandson walk by himself 150 ft from her son’s house to hers, in broad daylight while she is at the door watching out in the safest suburb of a small city.
