  • I mean, asking for others opinions is a pretty normal and social behavioral thing to do… No?

Things I like I find others tend not to, so if I’m making something to appeal to others and not myself, I ask what they like.

Ofc this example of a picture hung over a stove is… Asinine, but my point still stands in response to your statement.

  • This is the same kind of argument that you shouldn’t have to wear seat belts because just don’t crash, duh.

Why do we have traffic lights?? Just don’t hit each other, duh.

You shouldn’t need emergency shutoffs at gas stations, don’t have a fire stupid!

Hand rails on stairs? C’mon, just don’t trip.

Confirmarion dialog on deleting data? Well, just don’t click the wrong thing 🤦

    It’s beyond obtuse

And completely missed the entire problem of human error. Which is one of the only constants we can always rely upon in every situation in every industry everywhere.

Being ignorant of something this pervasive and uniform across all humanity is not an excuse.

  • In a well regulated economy where abuse potential is lower, there are lots of good reasons.

If I’m developing a ride share app, battery level would be handy for a few reasons off the top of my head:

    1. Reduce rendering quality, animations, map clarity, go to dark mode…etc to reduce battery usage (ie. Automatic Low power mode).
      • Google maps does this when your device is overheating btw
    2. Increase priority levels for users who are at risk of running out their phones before their estimated arrival time
    3. Notify users that they may not have enough battery life, and advise them to switch their device to low power mode
    4. Prioritize blacking out the screen when sensors indicate the phone is facing down or is in a pocket.
