Big tech absolutely will spend billions if Apple Intelligence or Gemini is the only legal commercial LLM, this type of moat is 100% worth it. It’s literally the dream.
You got it the other way around. There’s no way to actually prove LLM used copyrighted material if it’s not a US based model and what then? Do you have a commercial allow list of models thst are legal to use? That would be completely unenforceable and collapse american tech advantage.
What about people who don’t care about IP law? Or trillion dollar companies? You think people just going to stop using LLMs? Lol
Ofc everything that doesn’t fit your dead brain world model is AI
Yes let your rage blind you - that’s very helpful. Maybe we should elect a strong leader and give them all of the power and our rights so he could take on these billionaires /s
God forbid some copyright holders lose their grip on information
Yes he would have loved to see us empower copyright as a response to that! /s
People are missing the forest for the trees if they think empowering copyright to block AI training is a good thing for our society. Who do you think will be able to afford the training? This will lead to Disney AI™ and Apple Intelligence™ vs China, Russia pirate Bay models - real cyberpunk dystopia.

Games•Nearly 90% of Windows Games now run on Linux, latest data shows — as Windows 10 dies, gaming on Linux is more viable than everEnglish
2·4 days agoBeen a while since I used windows but afaik docs are much worse on that side of things. At least on Linux you find some command or smt that could fix your issue, many windows problems are unsolvable and completely undocumented. There isn’t even a centralized log system like journalctl on windows so every error is just an alert pop up that says nothing or just complete silence.

2·5 days agoImmutable distros just add endless headache for new users
I disagree here. Sure it makes copy/paste computing a bit harder but it also prevents newbies from working themselves into a dysfunctional operating system which happens way more often than you’d think. People open a port or set some system variable for one thing and never set it back breaking everything else. With immutable system new users are forced into sustainable, reversible and transparent solutions.
The issue is that immutable linux is still pretty new so some mutable solutions aren’t adapted in immutable ways yet but if you’re just gaming you should never be on that side of the bleeding edge anyway.
They are extremely litigious. I work in software security and they are notorious for basically having an ocean of lawyers.

11·5 days agoI’ve converted all my gaming to linux including vr and couldn’t be happier! Even hardware works flawlessly these days with the exception of VR at times. I’m still struggling to get No Man’s Sky to work on my quest 3 and linux VR and thats really the only thing I’m missing but it seems close to working just needs more fiddling.
Highly recommend Bazzite for people looking for a linux gaming distribution. It’s immutable which can complicate some things but it’s mostly plug and play and impossible to ruin due to immutable nature.

55·6 days agoMan you’re talking out of your ass. I’ve been visiting Vietnam for over 10 years now, I live in SEA and have many Vietnamese friends with whom we discuss world politics and here you are saying that Vietnam and China has no tensions in the South China Sea when that’s by far the #1 geopolitical issue in the region.
Not even going to entertain your walls of nonsense anymore as you’re just building strawmen and attacking me. Get lost troll.

Guido mentored people personaly to fill in diversity gaps so needless to say diversity is very important to the Python community, even after Guido himself stepped down from Python Foundation, the community never faltered in remaining true to these issues.

128·6 days agoTell me why is war with China going to happen
Are you living under a rock or something? Vietnam’s number 1 security issue is China and nobody else.
I go to Vietnam at least once a year and Vietnam hates China as it’s really the only security challenge in the region. Cambodia and Laos are buffer zones that will never evolve into anything serious ever and other neighbours are an ocean away. To add, there’s a big cultural clash between Vietnamese and Chinese that is out of scope of this thread.
South-China Sea conflict is literally the biggest brewing issue in the region and you’d be an idiot to say otherwise.
Also bringing in WW2 and Vietnam-US war is so incredibly out of touch. Most Vietnamese have long forgotten the french and the americans and if anything got significantly closer to both than to China.
The jets there are 100% for south-china sea conflict hot or posturing. You think they will send them to fight US tarrifs? What are you even talking about. Again, a huge wall of utter rubbish.

144·6 days agoYou could read the article and yes that’s the whole point that Vietnam will likely never receive the jets it’s just a way to take take Vietnamese tax payer’s money and use it to sponsor ruzis.
Vietnam owes Russia 8B for the deal -> instead of paying which would void sanctions, they join with ruzis to help them launder oil and gas -> ruzis launder 8B oil/gas profits through Vietnam -> Vietnam maybe gets the jets in several decades if ruzia doesn’t collapse.
Good, any religion for kids who don’t even have the slightest concept of their own mortality or metaphysics is uenthical and immoral, period.
But what would banning headscarves in daycare centers even achieve
it allows people to escape oppression? Religion has no place in day care centres, period.
