eagleeyedtiger@lemmy.nzto Ask Lemmy•What were some computer programs and games you grew up with?English12·8 days agoEncarta 95 Mind Maze
Thanks, I might just binge it once all the episodes have aired.
To be honest I’ve only seen the first two episodes and they didn’t really grab me.
I enjoyed the books a lot when I read them, but never felt like it would adapt well to TV since so much exposition happens in the main character’s head.
Does it get better in later episodes?
eagleeyedtiger@lemmy.nzto World News•'Unprecedented Mass Deployment' of Warplanes Across Atlantic Fuels Fears of US War on Iran | Common DreamsEnglish1·9 days agoI assume most nations of the world taking part is correct. According to Wikipedia WW2 is considered to have started after the invasion of Poland and subsequently UK and France declaring war on Germany, however there were other events beforehand:
The causes of World War II included unresolved tensions in the aftermath of World War I and the rise of fascism in Europe and militarism in Japan. Key events preceding the war included Japan’s invasion of Manchuria in 1931, the Spanish Civil War, the outbreak of the Second Sino-Japanese War in 1937, and Germany’s annexations of Austria and the Sudetenland. World War II is generally considered to have begun on 1 September 1939, when Nazi Germany, under Adolf Hitler, invaded Poland, after which the United Kingdom and France declared war on Germany.
Considering how much the world has changed since then with advances in technology etc., I think WW3 will look very different if it happens.

Iran is one of the oldest settled countries in the world and has a very long history.
Don’t get me wrong, the Islamic regime is definitely not a good guy in all of this either. In fact, I don’t believe theocratic governments or even state religions should be a thing at all.

But I wouldn’t mind Trump being forever remembered in history as the instigator.

It sits squarely in the First Contact and Big Dumb Object tropes, but it definitely feels like an older book. It helps that it’s not super long.

At least we still have Dropout.tv making shows like Game Changer. I’ve only seen clips of After Midnight but it felt like the American version of UK comedy panel shows, which I love and don’t seem work well in the US.
eagleeyedtiger@lemmy.nzto Television@piefed.social•‘The Last of Us’ Ratings Declined During Season 2. But Why?English1·13 days agoI don’t see this being like The Walking Dead. I’m fairly sure they will only be adapting the story from the games and stopping, unless there’s been some news I’ve missed.
The plot of the games is easily readable online, the story isn’t really about the zombies at all. I did find the second season weaker than the first personally, but still didn’t mind it. There’s a lot of unwarranted hate online for the show, particularly around Bella Ramsey, but the same thing happened when they released part 2 of the game. The voice actor for Abby even received death threats online after the second game released.
Check out some of his older tracks. There’s some really good stuff and some very experimental, avant-garde songs too.
