They had a fairly large ‘archaeology’ exhibit at the museum, but I’m not sure if anyone ever went over it with an actual metal detector. Kind of related, they said the main medical issue at the fest was cut feet from all the old rip tab beer cans.

everydayhikerOPto pics•Boldt Castle/St Lawrence River Tour, Thousand Islands, US/Canada Border [OC]2·2 days agoHaha, that is rough!! Funny how one side of the border seems to be far friendlier throughout time.
Yeah, the downtown was a cool mix of old and new (although driving a transit van through it was less than enjoyable haha). Probably won’t end up posting it, but the geology museum at the university (5th largest uni in Canada I believe) was pretty cool as well.
Absolutely, I’d seen plenty of pictures before, but just seeing that much water move is really wild.
Hell yeah! I was with my mom, who is very much not into heights. Struggled even looking over the railing when on the American side haha.
I’m dumb haha, corrected.

everydayhikerOPto pics•Buttermilk Falls/Lake Treman Loop via Gorge, Bear and Rim Trail, Buttermilk Falls State Park, Ithaca, NY [OC]3·10 days agoI went on a Friday morning (i think about 8am start) and there weren’t many people. As I left it was getting a little busy and from what i understand, it can get packed. I think the pool at the bottom of the falls has swimming in season as well. If you’re in the general area, give it a week or two, whenever the leaves pop, and it’ll be awesome. And probably packed haha.
everydayhikerto news@lemmings.world•13-year-old boy with 'school shooter ideations' found with collection of gunsEnglish2·11 days agoApologies if what I’m trying to say is not coming through. The ‘how the fuck’ is rhetorical. What I am trying to convey is how frustrated I am that in this country there is such a failing that there are either parent who are so shitty that they not only store guns so insecurely that he has access to them, but also that they do not notice he has written things all over them (most likely) or that he is able to get them on his own and keep that fact from them (still plausible because it has happened other times). One sticking point about the guns being his parents though, is if they were their guns and aware of this, they would likely be getting charged as accomplices for whatever the kid gets charged for and possibly endangerment or something, as it would imply knowledge and consent.
Edit: I have no interest in jumping into the 2a debate and have deleted the rest of my comment. Good day to anyone who reads this.
everydayhikerto news@lemmings.world•13-year-old boy with 'school shooter ideations' found with collection of gunsEnglish42·11 days agoI understood it just fine. If a pile of guns and magazines has cryptic writing on it indicating it will be used for school shootings and the parents do not notice it, then it is the same thing as the kid having ownership of it. He clearly has enough access and control over those items that they belong to him. That may be because his parents aren’t paying any attention to their guns or it may be because he was able to get them himself.
everydayhikerto news@lemmings.world•13-year-old boy with 'school shooter ideations' found with collection of gunsEnglish51·11 days agoThis fucking country. How the fuck does a 13 year old have a collection of guns and magazines with ‘school shooter writing’ on them. That would imply ‘ownership’ and not just parents being irresponsible with their own guns.
everydayhikerOPto pics•Pulpit Rock and The Pinnacle Loop, Appalachian Trail, Hamburg, PA2·12 days agoAwesome, great place to make memories!.. If there was a cave I think I missed it. There was a small side spur that went to a little boulder outcrop that I couldn’t figure out what the deal with it was, so it definitely could have been what was there and I missed it.
everydayhikerOPto pics•Pulpit Rock and The Pinnacle Loop, Appalachian Trail, Hamburg, PA3·12 days agoIf its that short merge that you’re talking about, yeah it is. Surprised the hell out of me. Glad the truck saw me and got over in time because I had no clue it was so short.
everydayhikerOPto pics•Pulpit Rock and The Pinnacle Loop, Appalachian Trail, Hamburg, PA6·12 days agoHaha, yeah wrong pulpit rock for this hike, also the pinnacle was nit the highest point on the hike, but what can you do. Great pic!!
Haha, yeah it was apparently ~450k people at the fest. I went to the second Bonnaroo back in the day, which I believe hit a million at the fest, but was like 10x the area for everyone and was still unbelievably packed. I’d imagine for a lot of the crowd it was far more the experience than actually hearing the music well.
