    That would be a surprisingly realistic bump in the middle where molten granite spiked upwards, but I don’t think nukes have quite that much power. Don’t get me wrong, they could end life on earth, but they won’t have the same or more localized impact than the meteor did.

    I usually build drawbridges separating the surface and the lower biomes for exactly this situation. Is there a chance I’ll have twenty dwarves chewed up and traumatize their families? Yes. But my crossbowmen will kill a thousand hellbeasts and titans before we lose a hundred.

    Also keep a bunch of wardogs at the entrances.
