You want to make sure the Voltage matches or bad things can happen. The current and Wattage can be the same or higher, it will only draw as much as it needs.
flynnguyto Technology•Consumers are paying more than ever for streaming TV each month and analysts say there’s no reason for the companies to stop raising pricesEnglish1·2 years agoYou can do everything you need to do on an old laptop… you don’t need a desktop. You just need to make sure you disable any of the power saving settings so it can stay on all the time but then enable a display-off type of screen saver.
flynnguyto Technology•Elon Musk blames remote workers for Tesla's struggling car salesEnglish71·2 years agoI think you could make the argument that people working from home don’t drive as much and so are putting less wear and tear on their vehicles which mean they last longer which means they aren’t getting replaced as often which leads to reduced new car sales.
Of course, I think one could also make the argument that people are realizing what a POS Elon is and there are more and more electric vehicles to choose from which is probably the more likely reason for the reduced sales at Tesla.
Yeah, that’s less than a 10% discount on their cheapest board. (The pint starts at $1,050) You are better off waiting for a sale.
flynnguyto News•Demolition of Marilyn Monroe’s house halted after widespread outrageEnglish61·2 years agoIf demolition is even an option, the house itself is likely in bad shape and not livable
Not necessarily. I don’t know if this is the case here but some places, people view the property location as more valuable and have too much money so they buy the house/property and then knock the house down and build what they want no matter the condition of the original house.
This happened to someone I know, their house needed a little work but was perfectly fine. The new owner didn’t even go inside to look at the house. Made an offer and then tore it down to build something new.
flynnguyto Mildly Interesting•An "airport neighbourhood" where people can store their planes in their yard and taxi directly to the runwayEnglish3·2 years agoPlanes that would land here typically use 100LL which contains lead. (LL stands for Low Lead). It’s not banned for aviation use.
There has been a push recently to use alternatives which don’t contain lead but most places still have 100LL as it’s a very long process to get things certified for aviation use.
I don’t play competitively so maybe that shows through here but I say play what you love. Personally I’m older and grew up with the original trilogy so that’s why I’ve been focused more on Empire vs Rebels (and why I’m excited about the ewoks coming out) but I am planning on eventually getting a GAR and CIS army together because I really enjoyed the Clone Wars cartoons.
But I too would love to hear how other people play GAR and CIS.
flynnguyto Android•Opinion - What are your thoughts on password managers? Do you use one? Would you recommend it to others?English2·2 years agoBitwarden has a free tier but then you can pay for additional things like 2FA.
Though I believe you could also self-host and get the additional features without paying Bitwarden.
flynnguyto Android•Opinion - What are your thoughts on password managers? Do you use one? Would you recommend it to others?English81·2 years agoYes, 100%… In fact, I often do recommend it to others. Personally I use Bitwarden (paid account even) but I’ve also recommended 1pass to apple only users because it fits well in that ecosystem.
You can use them to generate a different password for each and every login. And it’s really just random letters, number and special characters. That one site gets compromised? They can’t then use those credentials to login anywhere else.
You don’t have to remember those passwords. Passwords that are easy to remember are probably found in dictionary attacks. You know what’s not?

(which I just generated with bitwarden)2-factor auth is also really easy with most password managers and makes logging in with 2-factor auth easy. I hit one hotkey to fill in the web form with my username/password, hit enter to login and then it auto-copies my TOTP code so I can just paste it and go. Super secure but super easy.
You go to a phishing site? Guess what, a good password manager will store the url and if it doesn’t match, that should be your first red flag. If I end up at g00gle.com instead of google.com, it won’t show as having a login available.
flynnguyOPMto Pickleball•Pickleball Injuries Cost Americans Nearly $400 Million This YearEnglish2·2 years agoI think this is very true but I think also related is the accessibility of Pickleball. I think someone older is more likely to pick up pickleball than say tennis or racquetball. So more people playing is going to naturally mean more injuries.
I’m really excited to play Ewoks, even if they end up not being very strong.
Oooh, I like this idea… I’ve thought about running vaultwarden but like you I pay for bitwarden premium because I think it’s critical for me and I like the service and want to see them continue. Using it as a backup, then I can still support them and run my own backup.
flynnguyto General Discussion•Is it illegal/poor taste to port content from Reddit over to Lemmy?English6·2 years agoI don’t think I’d automate it, especially because going forward that content is something that whoever posted, intended the post to go to reddit, not lemmy. Especially if it’s someone asking for advice or something personal like that.
However, if it’s a link to a youtube video or a tiktok or a news article or something, I see no reason why you couldn’t essentially cross post that. But again, I don’t think I’d automate it because then if they added some sort of commentary around it, you’d be just copying them. But copy the link and add your own commentary, I think that’s fine.
Pickleball is kind of a mix between tennis, badminton and table tennis.
They both have some really good stuff. I’m currently working on paining the “Forest Moon Village” from Imperial Terrain. Will post pictures if I ever finish.
This is awesome, where did you get it? 3d printed?
I have a Mini EV… it’s been awesome. The only downside is the range is only realistically around 100mi but it’s good for most of the driving I do. Longer trips we take me wife’s car.
