One of my previous jobs required we updated our personal phones and ticked a box in a document every month so that the company chat app was “on a secure environment/device”.

I normally keep my phone up to date, but my employer shouldn’t be telling me what to do with my private phone. I removed the company chat app since I didn’t want to comply with them controlling my personal devices.

After that they couldn’t reach me after hours. Great. After about 6 months they allowed me to use the chat app on my private phone again without insight or control over it. It may sound petty, but I think it’s an important distinction.

I haven’t watched Pewdiepie since many years back, but these videos really made me happy to watch. I could see my own excitement from years back relived through his eyes.

Since these are big names in tech on YT, this will make a lot of users try it out that otherwise would not have.

Half sarcastically and half seriously; This IS the year of the Linux desktop. And if it isn’t next year will be. We’ve seen it become better and better at what, I feel, is an exponential rate. Whatever year it will be, it is going to be soon.

I’m excited for the future :)

Det var ju tråkig läsning. Dock verkar det inte som att artikelns författare hade några problem själv. Men jag förstår din oro.

Köp en billig second hand telefon och testa om det är intressant! Det var så jag blev bekväm att byta helt.

Jag kommer tyvärr inte riska att bli av med BankID to prove a point 😅. Jag tror att det hade gått fint, men om det är som du och skribenten säger så vill jag inte behöva brottas med det när jag redan har en fungerande setup.

Det är inte en offentlig tjänst – det är en kommersiell produkt som vuxit till att bli samhällets standard för digital identitet. Myndigheter kräver att tjänsten används, privata aktörer bygger sin affär kring den och medborgarna förväntas ha den.

Skribenten har verkligen rätt. Det är sjukt att vi låter EN aktör ha monopol. Speciellt när det är en kommersiell produkt som de tjänar multum på (varje autentisering kostar pengar för tjänsten som använder BankID).

Öppna upp och släpp in alla likartade tjänster! Så klart med strikta krav på säkerhet.

Jag har kört IodéOS på min Fairphone 4 i kanske 2-3 år nu och BankID + min banks app har fungerat fint hela tiden.

IodéOS är franskt (om jag minns rätt) och är ett privacy-fokuserat OS som har inbyggd Ad-blocker på DNS-nivå ungefär som AdGuard, eller PiHole, fast inbyggt i operativsystemet. De har bytt ut alla Google Play Services mot microG (https://microg.org/) som är en “free-as-in-freedom re-implementation of Google’s proprietary Android user space apps and libraries” (citat: hemsidan).

I början var det lite funky och saker fungerade ibland dåligt. Mikrofonen fungerade inte i Snapchat, GPS var struligt och vissa appar startade inte alls. Men nu ett par år senare har alla stora problem lösts och det fungerar väldigt bra!

Det kommer att vara lite småstrul ibland och man får vara beredd på att det inte är lika smooth som en “normal” Android-installation, men har du lite teknisk know-how (vilket det verkar som) så kommer du lösa det galant.

Jag kommer aldrig byta tillbaka.
