That’s just a damn shame. I guess I’ll be on the look out for when greedfall 2 will be deslisted and see if I can grab it for a decent discount.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Why aren’t there more PC-first gamepads? Valve don’t know, but they "did see an opportunity" for the new Steam ControllerEnglish
7·15 hours agoI guess I’m old enough to remember that there were a plethora of joysticks and game pads during the 80’s and 90’s that were designed for PC. So many options for PC back in the day.
That all changed and dried up after Doom came on the scene and M+K and the precision that it gave became the norm and there was no real need for PC gamepads and the market for that dried up plus with console controllers moving to work with PC’s there was really no need for something PC specific since for most games, M+K is still better suited or at least more than serviceable so the PC controller market is niche still at best.

Games•Thick As Thieves Will Cost $4.99, Early Access Includes 4 Hour Long CampaignEnglish
8·19 hours agoI guess I would call this the Telltale model where you have episodic releases. My only concern would be the overall price a person for what would be considered the full game in the bastardization of the Paradox DLC model where the “complete” game is hundreds of dollars.
Still it would be a interesting early access experiment.
Yup. AI might, and I mean might, be a force multiplier for senior developers but this whole “Everyone can just let AI code” is bullshit that will lead to a giant mess of unmanageable code when your developers your maturing don’t understand the underlying code or good software architecture.
Oh and also I’m right there with you with the fuck that whole ELOC bullshit as a metric.

If Democrats had the petty spines, they’d pass a law to expand the FCC to cable and streaming and then go after them like Hegseth when quoted the “bible”.

politics •Jeffries says Trump impeachment not a top priority if Dems win House majority
101·2 days agoIt’s like you could actually do both.
Also even though the chance of having the Senate follow through is basically nil, I still believe having public impeachment hearings where these assholes actually press the matter, bring the facts and be as explicit and dramatic with the facts as possible with the American public, because let’s face it Americans are too dumb to be all about the facts, about the unconstitutional things he’s done and how he AND the Republican party + Fetterman are responsible for the spike in every things for the American people. You don’t have to remove Trump in order for an impeachment to be successful.
But then again with these spinless dicks that call themselves Democrats, maybe it is better that they don’t have impeachment hearings because they would softball everything just like last times and get no point across.

Games•PlayStation has seemingly added a 30-day DRM check to all newly purchased digital PS4 and PS5 gamesEnglish
9·2 days agoFor digital purchases? I don’t remember having that on my ps3 and 4 days for games that was purchased but then again it’s been literally a decade since I’ve used one.
The free PS+ games sure, you had to have a connection but for games you outright bought, as long as it was on installed your machine it was playable with or without a internet connection. That’s what I remember at least but then again, it’s been a very long time since I’ve used any console.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Steam Controller page updated: $99 USD, releases May 4th
4·3 days agoI think that at that price, I’ll wait until my current Xbox controller and old steam controller I currently use dies or it’s on a heavy discount before I pick one up.

World News•‘We will not survive’: Toyota, Honda and Ford CEOs issue chilling warning about China — and it could hit your portfolioEnglish
92·3 days agoThis has been reported on by multiple sources outside of the automotive industry about the rise of dark factories in China.
It’s not a secret that China has heavily invested in automation in part due to the necessity thanks to unforeseen consequences of the one child policy. There’s a very much lack of labor workers because the current generation are full of people who ultra emphasized education, even in rural areas, and this generation has no intention of working labor jobs. I don’t think Western countries, especially America with their abysmal education and having the average citizen reading at a sixth grade level wouldn’t be able to absorb that level of automation without tanking the economy unlike China’s unique situation.
Now what I’m going to probably find interesting is what’s going to happen when inevitably with the revocation of the one child policy and you see the next generation of young adults that may not have the same level of education since you now can’t pump all your resources in the singular kid and how that’s going to affect them. I do wonder how long this competitive advantage will last.
