Head Hunters is great. I’m a bit of the opposite in that I came in liking his more traditional jazz/post-bop stuff first like Maiden Voyage and Empyrean Isles, so was thrown off by how different sounding this one was.

I find it helpful to start by looking for hobbies you enjoy for the hell of it and then seeing if there’s a community around that. Making friends seems to be a bit easier when there’s a shared activity to chat about. For example, I took up acoustic guitar and met a lot of people who like to jam together. Also started learning a type of dance and got involved in the community by attending classes and socials. My buddy met his main friend group at a rock climbing gym when he took up bouldering.
For apps/websites, I had luck attending a few Meetups, e.g. like for people learning a foreign language who want to practice with each other. Some people join rec leagues or attend tabletop game nights.
I personally don’t use social media much but it can be useful to see if there are any local events to checkout nearby.
The lack of third space options is definitely a problem. Even if kids could go places without a car, a lot of activities are centered around spending money or don’t foster unstructured play.

Biking is such a great and underrated mode of transportation too. Lots of global cities have great bike infrastructure and overall it’s cheaper, healthier, requires less time stuck in traffic, offers more foot traffic for local businesses, requires less space for parking, etc.
Stunning design, prob my MCM dream house with the way it blends nature with touches of Japanese influence. The way the waterfall is incorporated into the house makes it look like a painting
Hyped for this since seeing whispers of dawn
Was going to say LH as well. Strange Trails is what I throw on while heading to the trailhead

Inside is great as well
Spitting penalty on the game ending drive too. Just a lack of discipline
That was just sloppy. Not hiring an OC is the key issue. Silver lining is that expectations for the rest of the season are much lower now. All kinds of weather 🌧️

Got one of these a while back but it broke. Though even before that I still preferred my cheap, auto-locking Stanley tapes. And I have several Starrett combo squares and calipers, so I’m aware of the brand reputation, but I believe these are manufactured overseas and they just slap the Starrett name on them.
Our household cut almost all of our paid streaming subscriptions (kept 1 niche service so I can watch pro paintball). Mostly due to the time sink, but the perpetual price increases, mind numbing ads, and fracturing of services cemented it.
Besides freeing up time for other things, we’ve been going to our local library more now. In addition to physical media, a lot of libraries will let you stream movies, music, and audiobooks via free services like Kanopy and Hoopla.

I share the author’s sentiments. Would rather people read my posts and form their own opinions, than offload their thinking to a machine (while consuming energy and water to do so). And the idea that my posts would be scraped and used to train an LLM against my wishes makes me a lot less motivated to publish personal blogs.
Owned an Xperia 5 III and liked it enough to replace it with a 5 IV. Miss having options for a compact flagship like the 5 IV or Zenfone 10. Headphone jack ftw.
Are you planning to air dry it? I believe the rule of thumb is 1 year per inch of thickness so you may have to wait a few extra years to get down to a reasonable moisture level unless you have access to a kiln or can build a solar kiln.
Other than that, I’m guessing it’ll be tough feeding it through a jointer or planer, so you’re probably better off using hand tools to flatten and true it. Chris Schwartz made a Roubo that way using 2 slabs of cherry.
Sounds like it’ll be a great bench in the end though. Best of luck
This and 8th MS Team on Toonami were my first intro to Gundam. I remember thinking Duo’s Deathscythe was the coolest
Love the lighting. Golden hour?
