They are perfectly comfortable saying truly vile shit, then feigning moral outrage if they get a tenth of the same energy back. The Alt-Right Playbook sums it up neatly: “You Go High, We Go Low.”

While it’s hypocrisy in practice, it’s not hypocrisy in belief. Conservatives believe that there are people who the law protects but does not bind, and those the law binds but does not protect. When you realize that the regime is acting under a belief that freedoms only apply to their own kind, their behavior is consistent. Reprehensible, but consistent.
