Well, I’ve got stuff seeding far more than 30 days, usually the obscure stuff. But also, I seed until my ratio hits 10:1 just cuz I have the bandwidth/capacity, and I know how hard it is sometimes to get a decent DL.

I’ve got: 10x 8TB drives (Raid5 with 8 and 2 spare) 8x 16TB drives in 2x 4-disc Raid5 (no spares yet) These 3 storage pools are for Plex/ Jellyfin (movies, TV, misc)

In another “lower power” server, some older 3TB x8 in Raid6 for files and pictures and whatnot.

I’ve been backing up data for family since the windows vista days, everyone so far has been happy to have stuff archived. Mostly I just back up their physical hard drives or their own backup drives.

None I’m aware of. I’ve uninstalled pretty much every Google app, signed out of gmail acct and am mostly using F-Droid apps since I don’t need any “app store” apps. I kept my banking app, but apparently so far doesn’t need Google’s services bc it still works just fine. My battery, since making that switch, lasts a bit longer without all that stuff running.

But FYI, I don’t have any social media, and I only use WiFi unless I’m on the road. I don’t BT to my car but rarely, and I don’t need location services. So 1 day+life is easily achievable!

I have the opposite. I grew up with my parents guilt tripping me “starving* kids in Africa” stuff, and so my wife is one who rarely finishes a meal, snack, or dessert, so I’m “stuck” eating the leftovers haha.

I’ve learned to order less while out, cuz she won’t eat leftovers either (or rarely does) so I get to try hers instead of it going to waste.

Only reason I didn’t go Nothing, was no IR Blaster. Now I realize it didn’t matter cuz FOSS support for it sucks lol. Spoiled with my other built in stuff

Personally, I think there’s no real “political correctness”. Something is only offensive if you let it have that affect on you. Otherwise, it’s a bunch of assumed possible offensiveness worrying someone might get their feelings hurt.

Now, that’s not an excuse to be a jerk to people, I’m just saying I feel it’s mostly made up as another means of coerced control.

TIL DST happens at different times for different areas… Something I never really considered.

The best time is now to take up communal gardening and hold mini farmer’s markets in neighborhoods, etc. Several of us on our street each have started gardens. More join each year as other neighbors see progress!

Well, tbh, they just use an email as a username a lot of times. As long as you note the old email address and password for an acct you should be good. Another option: Forward those emails with keys and other important info to a new address, or better yet, archive those all to a .PST (if you have Outlook for example) so they’re available offline.

Last but not least, stop using that old email, switch all important stuff over and leave the old dormant. I DO recommend a strong password update and possible MFA since you’ll seldom access it. But then you can disregard the old account and it exist for historical purposes.

I think too many people are too self conscious to join a protest. I think they’re (protests) belittled too much to feel impactful, and a lot of that lies in the division falsely created by the media.
