noisypine@infosec.pubto No Stupid Questions•Does anyone use a phone without a protective case?English3·2 months agoI bought an unlocked pixel 4a while back so I could install LineageOS and extend my phones life. Still getting updates and on the latest android version.
noisypine@infosec.pubto No Stupid Questions•Does anyone use a phone without a protective case?English17·2 months agoNever use a case. Had one on my blackberry back in the day, but never since. I’m pretty careful with my phone. When I am holding it, I recognize that it’s a $500 device and needs to be treated with care. That being said, I am a strong supporter of being present in the moment and my phone usually only comes out if I need to call/text or look up some information. Unless im sitting in a vehicle or waiting room, I just don’t really use my phone much.
Might as well enjoy it if you have to take care of it either way.
People who parent like this piss me off. Keep your kid in check, you are making the rest of us look bad.

noisypine@infosec.pubtoPiracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Tribler - Is it any good? If not, is there anything as private as Tor for torrents?English0·4 months agoTribler works well. Its not as fast as standard torrents, but its not unreasonable either. I see lots of talk of I2P, but man, it’s not a simple thing to setup and the torrents are restricted to what’s on the I2P network. Generally missing a ton of stuff and downloads are very slow, much slower than Tribler.
It’s not bad food, but it’s definitely not worth the money.
So, this question comes from someone with no background in development or marketing but, wouldn’t this money be better spent on develoment or marketing of Firefox. I’m a little more worried about having a long term alternative to Chrome based browsers than self hosting photos. This is not a knock on Ente or any other photo hosting script, I am very interested in a fully functional self hosted Google photos alternative, but my priorities start with Firefox.

noisypine@infosec.pubto Technology•Why is the internet overflowing with rubbish ads – and what can we do about it?English2·11 months agoAll ads are garbage. There’s no such thing as a good ad. They are in place to push an entities will upon you, there is no upside to any ad for the viewer. Firefox and Ublock Origin for safety and sanity.

Make a file named just a bunch of spaces with double quotes around them. It’s made confusing because of the 4 double quotes, two are escaped by the backslashes immediately before them.
noisypine@infosec.pubto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•what addiction have you kicked? no matter how insignificant you feel it wasEnglish8·1 year agoSmoking, drinking, weed and sugary drinks. All happened between 2013-2018. All took effort, but smoking was definitely the most difficult. Switched to a vape first and then slowly lowered my nicotine level, once every 2-3 weeks until I get to 0mg nicotine. Going from 1.4mg to 0mg was the hardest, but about 3 weeks after, I forgot to use the vape for a whole day. Never picked it up again.
