I’m shuttering social media, including masto/fedi for a while, maybe forever. I cannot take it any more. I am going to live in solitude.

In my stories/narratives they feature “constant-on” comms. Disabling it, or alterations in any way, trigger a visit from the police. A good citizen has nothing to hide. Your safety is always important. No citizen would want privacy, how could you be sure that what was being said was safe and not causing thoughtcrime?

1·3 months ago@DenOfEarth @[email protected] @sciencefiction @[email protected] @[email protected] @cyberpunkhub @[email protected] There are 8 wires, probably, 22g - 24g, 4 in back, 4 on the side, none of which ever carry anything more than a .5-1mm jacket. I’ve used cloth jacketed cat 6 because 1. it was going to be thrown out* and 2. because it reduces EM noise and this runs right by the audio wires inside. Those wires carry, I’ve never tested this one, at best, 1vdc with less than .1ma. They have, depending on the model, clear lacquer or silicone on the solder points, but you could lick them while standing in water buck naked and you’d not feel them since there is such a small load.
The only load, again, is the cathode wire off the side of the tube. It is, again, the one less than a taser, but you would get a poke if you peeled back the cuff and stuck a screwdriver in there. But like all appliances, you just cannot stop stupid from happening. The step-up transformer and everything else with load on it is inside the body, and you could take a screwdriver to that as well.
Ironically, the Gilliam piece from Brazil you showed has the step-up in full view and none of the extra shielding I included. I am keen on making art, not keen on folks hurting themselves. Nothing impressive about common sense.
*Adding late, forgot to put in originally. All my pieces use as much reclaimed material as possible. This piece, like the majority since 2010 is about 94-96% reclaimed materials.

Just like any cord, if you want to take a tool to it to get to the copper part and get zapped you could. Not really sure what kind of fear it is supposed to evoke. Is it common for someone to grab a cord and chew on it?
And they’re not high amperage. The cathode wire is the sparky one. About 65kvdc at .05k amp. A taser is 4-6x that depending on the model. (rough numbers, I’m not looking it up and indulging this further). Knowing what you’re concerned about is probably worth taking the time to learn about.
