I learnt this the hard way when I worked out my shutdown script that did this automatically had stopped working :P

Said item was my child, so the staff had to explain to the self-checkout to chill.
shadowbertto No Stupid Questions•How come it seems for the past decades the Catholic Church has been plagued with sex crimes especially among young boys? How long has this been going on? Or did I just miss something up.English1·1 year agoIt surprises me how often that point is lost… that said, of all people, you’d hope a priest would know better :(
shadowbertto Fediverse•Lemmy devs are considering making all votes public - have your sayEnglish1·1 year agoBut… we had those on reddit. I didn’t see many actual examples of the “moderator gone power crazy” stereotype that is so often echoed there (especially by people who fully deserved the moderator action they received).
The issue wasn’t that the rules were clear. The issue was that people refused to read them in the first place, and became hyper-defensive and obstinate whenever they were called out on it, even by moderators.
shadowbertto Fediverse•Lemmy devs are considering making all votes public - have your sayEnglish1·1 year agoWhat alternatives to votes would you propose to handle this better? Because I have no doubt the same thing will happen here too…
It’s just how people work, especially when things get heated. That said, perhaps that’s a poor example as a heated discussion isn’t necessary a helpful/constructive one…

shadowbertto Fediverse•Lemmy devs are considering making all votes public - have your sayEnglish8·1 year agoRedditors did that, rather than reddit I’d argue. Still the same result of becoming a far less useful heuristic though.
Not really sure how to “fix” a system like that, which depends on the masses to do something correctly. They… don’t.
Very cool. I have a dragon egg one - been working very well for quite a few years now.
shadowbertto Selfhosted•Roundcube Webmail Flaws Allow Hackers to Steal Emails and PasswordsEnglish3·1 year agoTrue, but it presumably would still require the user to open them.
But, I was mostly worried that just having the server installed would be enough.
shadowbertto Selfhosted•Roundcube Webmail Flaws Allow Hackers to Steal Emails and PasswordsEnglish2·1 year agoIt’s only if you view a specifically crafted email in the web client… still worth upgrading of course.
To be fair, reddit moderation did both (rather than only the latter)
It’s nice to be able to use the phone web browser and not be nagged…
Kinda… you do need to enable it in settings.
