I’ve never heard of a single instance of someone getting a ban for abusing Reddit Cares, which is particularly bad given how easy it is to report and prove.
I don’t know if she’s done anything per se, but the reason I find her obnoxious is that most of her cartoons are of the format seen here, i.e. a strip in which she has an argument with someone and wins. Often the argument will be a fairly unsophisticated easy target, but will check the performative boxes required to get those shares and upvotes.
Also - as seen again in this very strip - there’s often a persecution/victim complex subtext at play, that never fails to get all the parasocial white knights riled up (edit: and it still seems to work over here too depressingly)
If Kelly from The Onion ever got rebooted as a social media liberal, it’d probably look a lot like her.

You say that as though the US doesn’t exercise eminent domain frequently. It’s a non-starter of an argument.

His name is Yogi Bear, not Yogi the Bear

People moaning about tankie propaganda are missing the point that it’s not about how amazing China is, it’s about how American politicians are letting their people down.
The “because totalitarianism” argument is a non-starter - plenty of functioning democracies have built effective high speed rail. China is being given as an example because they’re a similar size while having much less money; it’s a counter to the “we’re too big” excuses usually made for why small European and SEA countries are also able to do it.
There’s a doublethink at play where Socialism is both a totalitarian slavery regime with gulags and mind control, and also just when everything is like it is now except rich people pay taxes

“This technology is so useful we’re going to force it on you every way we can think of”

And they still haven’t figured out how to stop Netflix from crashing 15 minutes into every other show I watch. First year I had it no problems. Then one day about two years ago, bam, unwatchable.

I should save this comments section for when I need examples of why social media should be banned. A ton of people being dicks to each other over whether they use a honey dripper or a teaspoon.

Meanwhile in the UK pedestrian deaths are down despite the number of miles walked increasing.

You’ve been fed and are repeating racist bullshit. People buying houses for their own use aren’t what’s driving up prices, it’s people buying up houses they don’t live in. Being “local” or “foreign” is an irrelevant distraction designed to feed into mistrust of people who are different to you.

I’m reading this after coming from a thread in which people were mocking or handwringing over an article that suggested the official poverty line was unrealistically low.
Yeah, I wish they’d made the second graph show percentage point difference instead of percentage growth.

[Israeli public broadcaster] “A boycott may begin today with Israel, but no one knows where it will end or who else it may harm.”
If that’s what they’re leading with, it shows how weak the rest of their defence is.
(also, am I being cynical, or is “who knows where it will end” meant to be lowkey invoking the you-know-what?)

Instinctively I feel like doing that is a bad idea, since it makes it easier for scammers to create documents that have the feel of authority when trying to con people.

How is using the default font wasteful? Apart from anything else I’m pretty sure it uses less ink.
“been understood to” is doing a lot of shady sleight-of-hand there.
“laughable,” arguing that you can’t declare the majority of Americans impoverished because the suburbs they choose to live in are expensive, which is what Green did when he used the middle class suburb of Caldwell, New Jersey, as his median.
Yeah you’re right, this is verging on dishonest. The whole point of him picking Caldwell, NJ was to find an extremely median place to live and avoid accusations of cherry-picking San Francisco or Manhattan prices. Essex county is 13th out of 21 counties in NJ for income, NJ is the 11th largest state by population. I’m sure you could find something more mundane, but not that would affect the final numbers to any significant degree unless you were cherry-picking in the other direction.
Sure there’s lots of states with much lower property values, but you have to weight it based on where people actually live. Telling poor people to move to Buttfuck, ID and get a job there instead doesn’t work.
I didn’t say she didn’t do anything bad, I said I don’t know what she did. Others have in the meantime filled you in, but you’re tripping over yourself trying to get indignant over the answers to a question that you yourself framed in a loaded fashion.
I don’t think your dismissive characterisation of my position is particularly accurate either, which suggests your original question may not have been entirely in good faith…
