1·1 month agoOh I know, I was just thinking that if the AI companies will make an exception for Wikipedia (by paying) like the Wikimedia people think, they could also download the complete thing for free. But yeah they probably won’t do any of that so this was kinda useless I think

21·1 month agoI don’t get it though… Why would any company use this when Wikimedia also offers a download of the entirety of Wikipedia, for free?
Maybe it’s because if the AI companies don’t know, then they can hopefully get a little money from them?

5·3 months agoBeen following this project closely for a while so I may be a little biased but I think the browser is pretty charming. And although there aren’t many differences with Ungoogled Chromium (or atleast yet) the few ones they have make me think it has some potential to be extremely attractive for normies, like pre-installed uBlock.
That said, its marketing is pretty misleading. I seriously want to believe they have good intentions, but:
Best privacy by default
… is just not true. Sure, the browser itself doesn’t collect any data but it also isn’t hardened to try to avoid fingerprinting. Also the supposed “privacy” comes from UC.
unbiased ad-blocking
The wording is awkward but they mean not whitelisting certain ads, like Brave’s adblock does.
No bloat and no-noise
Ehh, it’s just chromium.
Buut either way I think this is the correct way to make a browser, specially for normies. Your average person is not going to bother with installing an ad-blocker, that’s why Brave got popular in the first place. I’m confident that it’ll get far, but again, if you know what you’re doing there’s not much point to it.
