Seriously, after leaving the other place, it’s just been me and my watches. It was just a month ago that I got to interact with another watch enthusiast. It was not so much by chance as it was the fact that I went to a boutique to send my watch for service.

To add to roserose’s comment, the power reserve is extra useful because this is a manual wound watch, not an automatic.

Giving credit to the Apple Watch for maintaining people’s interest in a wrist watch… everyone I know that wears an Apple Watch only wears the Apple Watch. But I guess I could give the benefit of the doubt that maybe they wear nicer watches on fancy occasions.

Electric toothbrush. When I don’t have it with me, brushing manually is such a chore. A device performs better than I do and I embrace it.

Prescription glasses. I remember getting to look at a tree with improved sight, and it was wonderful.
-
Air purifier. Has really helped my allergies.

Honestly, the lack of activity here has quelled my watch lust. But every once in a while I come across a watch ad and read more on it.
What did you enjoy about r/watches?
For me, I liked sharing in the excitement of new and seasoned collectors–but especially the newbies. Occasionally there were cool back stories, and even people getting their small collection stolen and the community pitching in a variety of watches to get them started again. Although sometimes obnoxious, the circle jerk was amusing to have around.
Maybe I’ll figuratively get off my butt and post my 3 watch collection.

I was seriously looking into it, but the Marlin base was crap quality according to reviews. So sad.
I’m putting myself in your shoes, like do I need it? No. But it’s neat! Bonus points to Seiko for the watch box looking like a Poke ball. Really cool purchase.
I read this with Morgan Freeman voice and thoroughly enjoyed it.
FirstLastBirthyear and pw was ssn because I was trying to memorize it. Idiot.

I do have the YouTube app installed. My Vivaldi bookmark for YouTube is for https://m.youtube.com/ other than that I’m clueless on why Vivaldi launches the YouTube app when you try to go to YouTube.
The Shortcut folder is a great idea. I’ve currently got a Shortcut folder as a widget stack on my Home Screen.

I get to lay in a bed by myself, all of my life. It’s fantastic!
weksa@lemm.eeto iOS•First time iPhone user, any and all Tips, Tricks and Recommendations?3·2 years agoAs someone who moved from Android to iOS this year, I miss the reachability of being able to swipe back from either side of the screen. Like many of the other Lemmy apps, Voyager lets you customize gestures for Posts and Comments. I disabled swipe-right because that’s iOS’s Back gesture, but I still need to start from the very far left edge of the screen in Voyager. Some other apps, after having disabled those swipe-right gestures, allow me to swipe back without having to reach the far left edge. It’s way more comfortable for me as a right handed user.

Shortcuts app:
- Shortcuts has Tasker vibes. You can do a lot with it, especially automation.
- Lmk if you’re a Google Home user. You can setup Shortcuts so that Siri passes on commands to Google Assistant.
- You can even customize the Action button to run a Shortcut. I’ve got mine to check if it’s connected to my home WiFi, then toggle bedroom lights; if connected to work WiFi, then… etc.
- Take advantage of Focus modes (Work, Sleep, etc.) because Shortcuts can use that as a condition.
Apple TV: Ted Lasso is worth watching.
3rd party apps worth mentioning:
- QuickScan. Completely free, with optional donations. Create multipage OCR’d PDFs with your camera.
BraveVivaldi browser mainly for ad-free YouTube.- Paperback if you read manga, manhwa, etc.
Lemmy apps: Voyager is the most frequently updated and smoothest, but it lacks some QoL features that I enjoy in other apps, such as Thunder. Give all of them a try.
Sleep alarm with gradually increasing volume: you need to use the 1st party Health app to set up your nightly alarm.
Additional settings:
- Back Tap. You can customize double tap and triple tap with a limited set of actions.
- Reachability. Top of the screen temporarily shifts down.
- Haptic Touch. Set to Fast so that long presses don’t take so long to activate.
I remember my first time seeing someone use a Jabra bluetooth ear piece. 2003 in a college dorm, a girl was walking back and forth but her phone was probably in her hoodie. I was bewildered, wondering why she was talking aloud to herself.
It’s been a while for me but I’m guessing that’s the banking character for 七
I enjoy Mango a lot more than Duolingo. I didn’t like Duolingo’s rote memorization of phrases. Mango adds structure and explanation, so you build and compose.
Also, worth mentioning that you might get free access to Mango through your public library.
