Wren 🪐@lemmy.mlOPto Everyday Carry. What essentials do you carry on a daily basis?@sopuli.xyz•Tonight’s carryEnglish1·2 years agoA skill toy. They originated as prayer beads in Russian prisons, and people started using them as a way to pass the time by flipping them around and doing tricks. Modern chetki are designed specifically for this type of manipulation

I also have a few posts on there in my post history, if that’s easier to navigate to!
Wren 🪐@lemmy.mlto Everyday Carry. What essentials do you carry on a daily basis?@sopuli.xyz•Bracelets that can act as fidget toys / anxiety reliefEnglish2·2 years agoYep you can! I have a set on my wrist right now, in fact. Some styles can be very clunky and annoying (esp with the tassels, which are needed to be able to slide the closing bead down to slip it off your wrist and give you slinging room) but if you shop around a little I’m sure you’ll find something that works for you.
I personally never go anywhere without arounsquare’s nano mkultra set - pricey, but I’ve definitely gotten my moneys worth. You can see them in a few of my other posts on here. I also got a great set from workshopfidgets on etsy, similar to this set here. There’s also loads of other great sets on etsy, and the internet in general!
Sorry if this was long, I’m just very passionate about skill toys and fidgets of all kinds - hence having the ‘idle hands’ community here haha
Wren 🪐@lemmy.mlto You Should Know•YSK: there's a type of common hallucination (often scary) that happens shortly after waking up. You can move and talk while seeing it and it can last between a few seconds up to a minute6·2 years agoOh awesome, I already deal with sleep paralysis on a semi-regular basis, now you’re telling me there’s yet another thing to worry about? 😭
Borderlands 2, combined across systems I have over 1k hours

Very cool though. It’s astounding how it’s simultaneously not that long ago that this was, how long it took for humans to have the collective knowledgebase for this to happen, and how exponentially far we’ve come since then.
Wren 🪐@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Anyone else missing posts in smaller Lemmy communities because they are overshadowed by the popular ones?2·2 years agoYeah it would be really great to be able to make a temporary filter, like I’d love to be able to have my homepage without any content from Memes without having to unsubscribe
Wren 🪐@lemmy.mlto No Stupid Questions•Do you use the swipe to type feature on your phone?English1·2 years ago100%. I use a third party app called Nintype which actually lets you two-thumb swipe type - to my knowledge the only one that has this as a feature. It’s so so much faster than single thumb swiping and peck typing once you get used to it. Sadly it’s been abandoned by the dev, so I’ll be gutted when whatever iOS version decides Nintype is too old and no longer supported
