World News•EU weighs ban on veggie 'burger' and 'sausage' labelsEnglish
5·9 days agoBecause there’s a market for it, simple as that.
There’s also plenty of vegan products that don’t directly emulate meat-based foods. Also some foods were always flexible in their ingredients, and expecting meat is just personal and cultural bias.

161·9 days agoThey are all very prominently labeled as vegan on the front and are located in an entirely different section of the supermarket.
If those hints couldn’t save you, maybe it’s okay that you tried to try a vegan alternative for once before reigniting this culture war issue over other people having options and sometimes being catered to as well.

9·9 days agoAnd those that aren’t openly and knowingly racist are still nationalist and authoritarian, of the “might makes right” variety in particular. You don’t thrive in that environment otherwise.
It sounds like a bad joke but they already do this with resisting arrest.
That works only for a subset of users able and willing to remember yet another PIN. Especially one they don’t need often.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Older people (30+) online, what would you advise younger generations in regards to life?
1·13 days agoEverything you claim to do here can be done safely, which I condone and have done myself. The way you go about it, you’ve chosen to be a serious danger to others for absolutely no good reason, while lying to yourself that it’s okay because you’re doing them a favor.
Go to hell.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Older people (30+) online, what would you advise younger generations in regards to life?
1·13 days agoI told you I don’t care what you do with your own mind and body.
But if you don’t care that you’re putting other people in danger of serious harm, then you’re a horrible person.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Older people (30+) online, what would you advise younger generations in regards to life?
1·13 days agoDo with your own life whatever you want, but don’t give dangerous advice to people who may trust you and don’t know better.
If you’re all about fun, guess what, even just a bad trip ruins that too.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Older people (30+) online, what would you advise younger generations in regards to life?
1·14 days agoYeah that’s fun. But I bet you had people to tell you what to expect and how to be reasonably safe.
“Try all drugs” will get people to try Heroin or Fentanyl and fuck themselves up for life in an evening. Don’t do that. We have a responsibility towards each other, especially towards newbies.

Games•The game "Horses" now barred on Steam, Epic and Humble BundleEnglish
194·16 days agoThe distinction may seem like nitpicking but no, CSAM is a legally defined term of depictions of actual children being sexually abused.
This game does not feature any such content. Not just because there are no depictions of real children, but also because the fictional children depicted aren’t subjected to sexual abuse.
Valve’s language cites “sexual conduct” which in this case reportedly (I didn’t watch it myself) has been stretched to include nudity that is non-sexual in nature.
I get why Valve would err on the side of caution, but that TOS decision is no basis to turn around and make the legally relevant claim that the game features actual CSAM.

41·16 days agoWe all know what that’s code for. I have never been to the US in my life, and yet as a white European I’d be accosted much less than tens of millions of US citizens.

Ask Lemmy•Euro-Lemmings: do you see common charger rules beyond computer devices?
2·17 days agoI’m already looking for USB-powered devices for stuff like electric razors and flashlights. Check out Wurkkos for example.
With toothbrushes the problem is seemingly the duopoly. If there is a good USB-chargeable alternative to Oral-B, please let me know.

Gaming@lemmy.zip•Embark almost put crafting timers in Arc Raiders when the game was F2P, but the model made it "hard to respect the player's time"English
2·17 days agoThat’s a new sentiment. Most games try to occupy as much of their players’ time as possible.
Did you maybe start with online dating? That’s where the transactional thing really is omnipresent and it sucks.

Here as well.
