To clarify the difference between home and main screens: home screen is the folded shut front screen, and main screen is the unfolded open inside wide screen.

So before the most recent Android update was installed, I could select from a list of options for the number of columns and rows that you could place your app icons in. Depending on the selection, it would adjust the size of the app icon accordingly. So, for example, 4x4 would hold larger sized app icons than 6x5. The infuriating part has to do with the fact the home screen is like 2"-3"x4"-6" while the main screen is 4"-6"x4"-6" or double the size of the cover screen. Before the update i could independently set the cover screen to grid size AxA, and then independently set the main screen to grid BxB. The screenshot is just where they used to be located. Iver searched thru all branches of the settings menu tree and found nothing. Fuck I hate when updates remove settings options or a user’s freedom to customize shit. The worst part is I dont think I can roll back updates on android either🤬🤬🤬

Skill issue. The feature is still in Good Lock, an app that everyone with a Samsung phone should have installed.

Hey, I’ve had a samsung for years and I’ve never heard of it before. Are we talking about the one by Soda Development? It looks like a way to password lock an app, what does it have to do with app icon grids?

Edit : That’s the wrong app, you’re almost certainly talking about Good Lock by heyUp.

If you download Good Lock (https://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.samsung.android.goodlock), you can still modify this through the Home Up add-on, along with many other tweaks and settings. I’ve almost managed to restore it to how it was before One UI 7 using these tools.

While what Samsung did isn’t ideal, at least there’s a solution for some of the changes at least.

It’s a great tool by Samsung, but not promoted as much as it should 🙂

    (edit: screenshot for reference)

It’s always been there in the add-on, why they removed it as a base feature beats me, but I feel they are going down the “Google route”, remove all that works and replace it with what you never asked for.

Google used to hold a lot of nice services and features, including Chromecast. Why kill something that worked so well for so many people?

Take a look at https://killedbygoogle.com/ if you have some spare time.

What the user wants does not matter anymore, seems to be a default all over these days… 🙄

Damn this was a post from 3 months ago lol I had to read my own post to remember what this was a reply to. The reason its such a distant memory for me is because for the past 1-2 months Ive been having to use shitty slow as fuck charging pads or other broken screen phones to charge them in order to use them to charge my phone. Spent $150 on chargers. Had a new phone in my shopping cart despite nothing being wrong with my phone other than not charging. Was hemming and hawing for the past 2 weeks if id pull the trigger on different/new phone that could charge. Im type 1 diabetic with constant glucose monitor that connects thru Bluetooth to phone so any time I was out, I was going blood glucose blind once phone died.

Fuck dont mean to chew your ear off but the point of the story is that it was all an issue caused by another fucking Samsung update. Just downloaded a random update last week and that day it had my phone back to charging normally like nothing fuckin happened.

So I apologize but my Samsung rage totally made forget all about being annoyed about them fucking up the UI settings for no reason lol. Im 100% riding this phone into the ground and going to any other phone manufacturer than Samsung for my next.

Got any phone recommendations for a make/model/line that really stuck out above the rest in quality?

I have ever since Nova sold out. Loved that one but I removed that immediately after the news came out. I don’t hate the stock Samsung launcher, but it’s left a lot to be desired.
