      I assume it’s for Monsieur Descartes but I don’t know French so I could be wrong

        Yeah this is the reason! I try to give a Mr. or Ms., such as Mr. Willis for Bruce Willis, but since this they’re French I opted for “M.”

      I see it like

      “Mum” as used in the phrase “mums the word” which generally means “I won’t say anything”. It’s kinda a sneaky pun.
