Where i live we have a pride year.

Although not the whole country. Not the whole city either, nor the whole neighboorhood actually. Not even the whole building unfortunately. But where i live it’s pride 4 seasons a year :))

Slowly, but surely, we are pushing pride to its final form : The Pride Year.

    As it should be.

I live on the island so we do pride early July but events start in June, then if I feel like it I can visit my family on the mainland and party through the late July smaller city prides and then finally the big one in Vancouver. Summer is a good time to be queer.

A quarter of the year seems a bit excessive tbh. A shorter but higher intensity celebration is sufficient, as a member of the plus sign mafia.

Halifax has been hosting Pride marches in July for over 30 years. Ottawa has been hosting pride marches in August for over 30 years. Seems silly for both of them to change the dates of their annual marches to June just because that’s when the US decided to do theirs.

I thought that it was a national thing for some reason lol. Makes sense as long as it’s about a month per area.

as long as it’s about a month per area

Seems pretty arbitrary. Why confine Pride events to a single month?

Doesn’t make a difference to me. I’m equally aroace the whole year. I also avoid parades like the plague, as I don’t like crowds of loud people. If y’all wanna have parades for a full year, have fun with that. I’ll be at home lol

I think this mostly has to do with how different communities across Canada celebrate Pride at different times of year. One city near me does Pride in June, the other in August. I don’t know of any one organization which has events throughout the entirety of Pride season.

What % of the population is queer. I need to know what the appropriate allocation of time is.
