While everyone here is obviously going to be a big fan of Debian itself I wanted to see what flavors of Debian based distros folks also like! Personally mine would be PeppermintOS. The XFCE setup looks great right out the box, runs really well on older devices (running this on a 2013 macbook), and a hassle free setup even when installing to something like a flash drive.
So what are folks favorite Debian based distros?
Debian.

LMDE is quite nice.
How does LMDE compare to base Linux Mint? Is it essentially the same as the Ubuntu based version of Mint but just based purely on Debian instead or are there other differences?
What is LMDE?
LMDE is a Linux Mint project which stands for “Linux Mint Debian Edition”. Its goal is to ensure Linux Mint can continue to deliver the same user experience if Ubuntu was ever to disappear. It allows us to assess how much we depend on Ubuntu and how much work would be involved in such an event. LMDE is also one of our development targets, as such it guarantees the software we develop is compatible outside of Ubuntu.
Yes, pretty much. It’s more or less just Debian with a more up-to-date Cinnamon desktop.

Xubuntu LTS. I like the minimalism of XFCE and the way it does its taskbar and its settings. Plus most software manages to just work because of how boring/vanilla Ubuntu is.
